I would like to start a discussion about rear steer. For me personally I am at odds with my cars due to the ability to rear steer. First, my understanding of the rear toe adjustments based on my experience through testing and racing: left rear toe primarily affects corner off or on power steering, and right rear toe primarily affects corner entry. I admit this is not absolute but in general this has been my experience. So, when I see others using 5 in, 6 in or even more left rear toe in I am inclined to do the same, monkey see, monkey do! When grip goes down with these toe settings the car gets REAL loose not only off the corner but down the straights. How do you tighten up such an animal? Adding more wheel load or heavier left rear spring only amplifies the looseness. So, I tend to run less left rear toe than a lot of people, and have asked numerous times how do you tighten up a car with 6 in on the left rear. I have never been given a good answer yet. I don't know what I'm missing but I am missing something. I have come up with a simple formula: heavy left rear toe + heavy left rear spring + heavy left rear wheel load = loose car. Reduce any of those and the car is tighter. Any thoughts/experiences out there?
