For the big majority of you who do not know me, I am Mark Fulton from Oklahoma City. In the 1980s and 1990s I owned a company called Power Products offering Sanyo Ni-Cad match matched packs initially and then built modified motors later. Power Products did well for a very small company, winning a select few NORRCA nationals with Bob Light in late 1993. It was fun but the 120 hour weeks took its toll and I disappeared for 25 years.

In late 2017 after finally retiring and having nothing pressing to do for a year, my wife wanted me out of the house, and RC became interesting to me again because of all the new, much improved technology. And the cars are much quicker with longer run times. What could have been done with this hardware in the 1990s!

Short story, I did fast research for a few months, started watching races at tracks, and wanted to do a new Power Product company again. After a few wrong choices for a manufacturer of motor components, I developed a good relationship with one who is reliable and released my motors slowly because I did not know if I could make a competitive motor. Turned out they were pretty good and my second gen design worked well.

With that said, my frustration with ROAR and the no customer service they provide, is just driving me crazy trying to get some motor designs approved. Starting in March 2018, a restart in May 2018, as of today I have half of a complete approval of my R3 edition but no final written approval as they slow walk the final steps. Like many, the Chili Bowl is an important race for me and my team. ROAR has been mostly incommunicado while I wonder how much longer it will be for the completion. I also have some new stuff I just completed and the final date to be included keeps getting closer.

Enough of the current BS. My hope is that another authority, who would oversee at least the dirt oval community for approval of products, rule decisions, etc. will come to be, like NORRCA was back in 80s and 90s. I think DODC is a step in the right direction, there is a rule package in place which most use as the bible for dirt oval (including Chili Bowl). My hope this grows so those manufacturers who support oval racing will have a customer supportive organization to work with. Any thoughts?
