Ray's Place Racetrack starts its season off on Friday night May 2. The first 2 weeks are non-points--so you can get in some practice before points start up. The track has made some big improvements with the addition of an all clay surface--which should improve traction, reduce track maintainance and reduce dirt build-up in the cars. Another big improvement was on the computer program for running the races. We now will use personal transponders for all scoring. A couple more changes were the addition of an open class and adding a wingless sprint race once a month. The open class only has a couple of rules: 6 cell 3300mah batteries, foam tires, no grease or traction additives on tires and no brushless motors. You can run 4 wheel drive cars, direct drive cars or trucks--anything you want--no weight rule. This should be a fun class so come out and give it a try. With the sprint cars we will run the last friday of each month wingless(it will be a points race). It is a lot of fun to run wingless--a lot more attention is paid to driving the car. Friday night races will be 6:00 p.m. the track opens for practice, registration will be 7:00-7:15 and the first heat starts at 7:45 p.m. Regular classes are EDM, Sprints and Open Class. Please come out and support a great race track and have some fun. Thanks, Jim McKeon

Hey Jim, Mike here.
What are the odds that Ray will allow his Friday night regulars to bring down their nitro cars for some practice, or set up laps, during the regular regular race nights, before the Dirt Oval tour comes to town? Or possibly set up a time, or day for pre race tuning. As a racer who just happens to live about 20 mins away from the track, I would surely be interested in some time to run, and get a head start on the "invaders". Even though I have quite a few laps there already, I along with a few other interested people would surely appreciate some track time, being that the nitro cars, don't quite operate the same as our electrics we run every week. Just a thought. Maybe I'll shoot Ray an e-mail on this subject. What's your opinion? See ya at the races!

Hey Mikey,
Must have read my mind.Hope Wernersville does same thing.Have heard that they might let us run rubbers at both tracks.Since our tours races dont conflict with the electric races they have.BUT dont hold me to it till we see a track owner confirm it-lol

To LET any Nitro drivers running Eastern Region Nitro Tour. Just found out from Wernersville Track owner that he will be there sat. night prior to our race getting it tacky enough for FOAMS only. He will let me know of the date for a practice date,

Thanks for the info, on Wernersville, Mark. I guess I gotta put some RAD TIRES away for that show then anyway. Was hoping on using the rubbers, but I can understand Mitch not wanting to get the track torn up too much. His surface is always baby butt smooth. It would be a lot of work to get it back into shape for the next electric race, I'm sure. Keep us posted on any new info for practice, or race dates. See ya!

I talked with Ray last night and he told me that the saturday before the tour race(which would be saturday august 9) there will be a practice for the nitro cars. We can't have the nitro cars run or practice on the same night with the electric cars or have a practice after the races because of noise concerns. I don't have a nitro car but can't wait to watch some good racing and help ray out with anything he needs that weekend. Hope to see a lot of cars and new people all season at ray's. Thanks, Jim

Hey Jim,
Well is there anyway to get a practice on a sun??
The sat before i can honestly say wont be many able to show up.Since Newville runs their races on sat nights.Thats why we got the Nitro Tour on sun. soo guys from Newville can make it out.And i know alot of the Newville runners run for points down there. Just thought i would pass the info along.

I agree that a Sunday, would be much more beneficial for a practice day, but Ray makes the rules. I hope he will consider the change, cuz like Mark said, most guys have commitments to point races, and other activities on Saturdays. I for one, don't really care either way for myself. I cannot run weekly shows for points because of work schedules(would miss too many events throughout the summer), but, the more people that have the opportunity to get a Sunday practice day in, will make for a better race the following week for everyone. Just my 2 cents.

I thought that it was you mark but I wasn't sure. Ray has told me that the practice for the nitro race would be sunday august 3. That is the sunday before the nitro race. Ray has rearranged his schedule some to have this practice on a date people said they can come out so please come out and support this practice and this race. I am anxious to see these cars race. What are the classes being raced in this nitro tour race? Thanks, Jim

Jim Thanks for getting hold of Ray. Prob will be best anyway so more can come out and tune.IM for sure gonna be there. There r 3 classes Sprint Outlaws,Big Block EDM( car based ) and Small Blocks EDM (truck based)basiclly trucks with EDM bodies. There is flyer on main page for the nitro tours and other info. And what is Ray gonna do bout tires?? Rubbers or foams... most run rubbers since thats only tires we can run at Newville BUT i can go either way dont matter to me.As far as rubbers only treaded type tires can be used.
Thanks Jim again
