A special thanks to Pete Ryckaert from www.stratmosphere.com (http://www.stratmosphere.com) for sponsoring the race. Also, George from www.performance-hobbies.com (http://www.performance-hobbies.com) for co-sponsoring and donating some additional door prizes.
Thanks to Brian Bettis, Larry Cowland, and especially Don Nicholls for taking care of business and calling the races on a very nice Saturday afternoon.
Okay, we'll try again with some highlights...
Dean Anderson drew the pole position, and won the dash, securing the pole for the "A" Main, from which he never looked back (at least not until the last 10 laps when Terry Schmitt started closing in VERY quickly).
Move of the day goes to Mike Alivero. In the dash, he slammed on the brakes at the finish of the 15 lapper to let TQ Dave Gruel finish ahead of him. Why? Because that starting position that Dave gained, gave him a transponder that hadn't been working right all day! Mike knew that, so he let Dave finish in front of him! DEFINITELY THE MOVE OF THE RACE, AND THE SERIES (so far)!!!
There were 10 of us at Hooters for the post-race dinner. The highlights....
Lil' Pete when he walked in the door: http://members.cox.net/bones96/images/smilies/bugeyes.gif
Lil' Pete when the waitress took his order: http://members.cox.net/bones96/images/smilies/hitit.gif
Lil' Pete when the waitress gave him a "hat slam": http://members.cox.net/bones96/images/smilies/weak.gif
...and at that moment, Pete thought it was over. Rupert had been whispering to the waitress, it had to be about the "hat slam", what else could they do?
Lil' Pete when the Hooters girls tied balloons to his arms, made him stand on the chair, and sang the Hooters Birthday Song to him: http://members.cox.net/bones96/images/smilies/help.gif
PRICELESS!!!!
I don't think he'll ever be the same!
