-This was the 11th race of the '02 SDS.

-Third and fourth place point men, Kevin Ridley and Mike Alivero were suprising no-shows. As if there were any doubt before, the chase for the title is now definately a 2 horse race.

-A slim 10 Big Blocks made the tow to RHR. I beleive this was the smallest car count of the year. Also a low truck count, at just 4.

-I have to give a tip of the hat to RHR. The entire show of 3 rounds (7 races per round) was wrapped up in just over 3-1/2 hours, making for a non-drowsy ride home! This is in sharp contrast to last weeks 6-race-per-round, 6-1/2 hour marathon at Latham. The race directors from every other track that hosted an SDS event this year should have been there to take notes.

-The BB A-Main was definately one of the more entertaining ones of the year. Once the race settled down, Matt Olmsted, from his bump-up starting position took the lead, followed by point leader Terry Schmitt, Paul Brauer, and TQ Larry Casbohm. Schmitt and Brauer (who ran nose to tail for most of the race) eventually made their way by, trying to stay ahead of Larry who was playing catch up after some opening lap mishaps. Larry was setting a blistering pace and eventually worked his way into the lead at about the 3/4 mark. Brauer dogged Schmitt for the remainder of the run but was unable to get by and settled for 3rd.

-Speaking of blistering paces, Casbohm and Bob Mott both qualified w/ 56 lap runs, w/ Larry breaking the track record in the process. Schmitt qualified 3rd with 54 laps!!

-Brauer brought the "Canada Car" out of retirement for RHR.....a mid-motor Intimidator-10 shod with 4 delta shocks. This design was used with a great deal of success by Brauer and Terry Schmitt at the now closed indoor track in Caledonia, Ontario, just up the road from R/C world, in 1997.
