4th Annual Custom Works King of the Wings Weekend
Labor day weekend is almost upon us. In Central Illinois that means it’s time for one of the best dirt oval weekends of the season.
We will kick off the race weekend on Friday September 3rd with 2nd Annual Spektrum Sprint Shootout on the high banks of the Maryville R/C Raceway located in Maryville, IL (just outside of St Louis)
On Saturday September 4th the racing action moves north on I-55 about 80 miles to Allen’s R/C Raceway in Rochester, IL for the 4th Annual Custom Works “King of the Wings”
Both tracks will feature the following classes, Mod Electric Sprint, Nitro Sprint, and
13.5 Late Model. DODC National Points will also be up for grabs at both events.
Along with our great group of WCIS regulars we are expecting some of the best dirt oval racers in the country. Rob Cutman, Arnie Fie, Max Flurer, Nick Rank, and Nathan Dean will be here representing Custom Works. I’m also hearing that 2010 DODC National Champion Allan Webster and side kick Matt “Murf Dogg” Murphy may be able to make the trip back from California. 2009 Chili Bowl Champ Doug Gaut is coming in from Kansas along with Jeff Harper from Oklahoma. In addition I’ve spoken with several drivers from the surrounding states that are planning to attend.
In years past we have had a cash payout for the KotW. This year to help everyone out we have decided to forgo the payout and lower the entry fee to just $15. We will still have awards for the top 3 in the A-mains along with a ton of prizes to give away from our great race sponsors.
2010 Sponsors Include:
Custom Works
Blue Thunder
Canham Graphics
Dynamite
Hyperdrive
Lefthander R/C
Losi
McCallister
Spektrum
Team GFRP

(More coming soon)
In addition to the individual class winners an overall "King of the Wings Champion" will be crowed at Allen‘s. The overall Champion will be determined by combining the best finish in the Electric and Nitro Sprint classes. :trophy:
