As Brad said the Camaro and Pro-Mod bodies are being removed from the approved list because they really dont fit the looks of what a contemporary Latemodel would look like. They were grandfathered in on the original rules package but now that several companies have a suitable electric body available there is no need for them to remain on the list.

Working good enough to be popular and looking like the real thing have nothing to do with each other. Trust me as the GM of Custom Works its not going to help our bottom line at all but if these rules and the approved bodies list is going to have any integrity that body has to go.
hell make it effective oct 1st.
The approved body list is updated every 6 months. There are a lot of driver who may already have purchased bodies or have bodies being painted and it would not be fair to reduce the value of their investment. 6 months is enough time for everyone to plan for it.

The cost of new bodies are getting out of hand then they want to charge an arm and leg for shipping....Crazy!!! :(
I think this is why the camaro is so popular because it is dirt cheap and it works really good! ;)
This is my 2 cents

as someone who runs the camaro and still has new ones sitting here in the package... i welcome the change. i ran the camaro cus it was an advantage, but i'd rather run a more modern looking body, and now i can w/out being at a disadvantage.

Seems to be some mixed emotions here. Keep in mind that the camaro body began being sold in 1987 and it didn't look a whole lot like a latemodel than. There never were any guidelines in place from ROAR or anyone else that dictated what a latemodel should look like at the time which led to bodies like the bullet wedge and batwedge coming out in the early 90's. As good as the body works it is time for it to go. I think its important that the cars we race resemble their full scale counterparts as much as possible and this will do a lot to help get the electric latemodels in line with most of the other classses.

Good to hear the Camaro is gone.
Six months grace period for a piece of plastic? What was the grace period when the sprint rules were changed a few years ago, a much costlier fix by the way.

Actually its not a grace period, Its just an announcement to let everyone know what will happen in 6 months. And for the record the grace period for the sprint cage width when the rules were implemented was over 2 months and that was only for those attending the open wheel race that year.

Understood. Makes sense for the local racers that have no plans to attend the Open Wheel. Any cost savings is appreciated at the local level.
However, now anyone attending the Open Wheel will feel the need to run the Camaro right up to the Open Wheel and immediately after they will have some very nice, freshly wrapped, "illegal" bodies. If the Open Wheel is excluded they have six months to prepare and test the other options....and come out of the Open Wheel with bodies to run through the winter.
Just a different way of looking at it I guess. The Open Wheel should be the latest set of rules in my opinion. Again, we didn't get much time to react when the last big rule changes were made, but at the local level I would guess the majority of tracks went ahead and allowed the old cars to run for a longer period. I'm not seeing why this situation is any different.
Either way, great move that is well appreciated.
Respectfully,
Mark

i am glad because i know i stock up on these and i am sure bumps and others have them too. So at least it gives us some time to reduce stock levels.

I would agree here. Why would the biggest race of the year use a body that is going to be illegal 3 weeks later?

I have about 12 wide sprint chassis I will trade ya...;)
