Had a great night of racing for a friday night.....every class was very close.....see some fast laps being turned by the 13.5LM's and the Super Late Models were once again fastest things on 4 wheels!

Here are the results, if you missed it the last few weeks or haven't come out yet this year, you owe it to yourself to make the trip to the new high banks in Broadwell......season is only 3 weeks in and the cars are already faster than last year in every class......long standing elec sprint record was broken last night....Rob King went 39, 4:06.135 and the old record was 38, 4:00. Paul Thoennes went from being so loose and out of control last week, to the man this week! He won the main with a 40, 4:00 with several run-ins with lapped cars.....The SLM track record holder from last week came from his 4th starting spot to make it up to 2nd.....

Seems like the tire choice in 1/8th scale was mixed.....3 out of 5 were on foams most of the night. While the other 2 kept switching back and forth between rubber and foams to find the fastest tire.....R/C4Less silvers prevailed, however the BSR 30's had the fastest lap of the night.....

Tom Thoennes......34, 4:04.195 ? OFNA or Kyosho?

Wanna thank the out-of-towners for making the trip back for another great night under the lights.....Joel Gish made the trip down and had a super fast car.....he might have pulled out the TQ if his RR tire would have stayed glued on.....

The 13.5 LM record was in jeopardy until the leader spun on the last lap.....record would have dropped by 2-3 seconds......Track has definately been fast all year.....5.5 sec laps in SLM? Wow! Where are the fast gus from last yr? Brad Brucker? Jack (Speed) Land? John Cole? Steve and Paul Hood?

We will resume our weekly Saturday night racing June 12th at 5PM.....who will be the next record breaker? Will it be YOU?

What tires are people running in the sprint class?

JConcepts green Rounder front, blue Bar Codes rear. Blue Bar Code front is a little less steering, M3 Suburbs is also a good rear.

has anyone tried foams on the electric sprints,if so what would be good to use.

I tried foams opening day up until the mains on my nitro and they wouldnt work. If there were more racers packing the track they might hook up. The street tracks were ok on the electrics, Klyber and a couple others ran them and did well. I had silvers on.

I thought Big Bills was a rubber tire track for everything but the 8th scales?

Bills is a laid back track that will allow whatever u want to use its all for fun neway. basically we have tried street tracs but the tracks gotta be real heavy for them otherwise the usual buggy tires work just fine:revs:

Amen to that...

It's seems to be an epidemic that a lot of the loose dirt tracks are more and more like foam tire tracks over the last 2 years. I think the 1/8 scales started the trend and now with the 13.5 lm's needing a smoother higher bite track, the trend seems to be going more towards a foam tire track instead of loose dirt.:(

now with the 13.5 lm's needing a smoother higher bite track, the trend seems to be going more towards a foam tire track instead of loose dirt.:(

The street track tires, required to run in 13.5 (per the rules), don't hardly work on a loose dirt tack.....therefore the tracks today need to be more hard packed and smooth.....HOWEVER.....the night Bob was running foams was on a night of sprinkling rain and made the track so heavy......if we wouldn't have run it in with the golf cart that night, we wouldn't have been racing.....

That being said, on your typical night, rubber buggy tires will be the tire of choice.....foams on a 1/10th scale car might work 1% of the time, but will doubtfully EVER be as fast as any rubber tire at Bills.

Inside Jobs, Double D's, IFMAR pins, Suburbs, will almost always be the best choice.....or something similar. Even the rubber vs foam on Super Late's is still debatable.....the only thing the foams have going for them is, they don't come unglued and they free the car up. That's all.....if I see a car on the track and it looks to be pushing, 9 times out of 10 that car has rubber tires on it.

Just leave your 1/10th scale foams at home, bring your buggy tires out and have a good time....I think every record (except one) has been broken from last year with the new improvements that Bill made to the track this spring.

That being said, see ya'll on Saturday.....track will open around 1-2, racing at 5PM.....you can sign up till 4:45. If you know you might be a little late, you can always call ahead and we can put you in the computer.....

Thanks

P.S. Couple other reasons for not leaving an inch of loam, on the track, is packed wheels lead to fried bearings, burnt up motors and esc's.....not good for the budget racer...

My comment wasn't directed only at Bill's... I agree that the rubbers will be the best on 99% of the nights. I remember when I started running loose dirt... The first time was at Lincoln and you could barely pull the trigger down the straights with a 10.5 in the car. Then I went to Allen's and ran an 8.5 and could run the top, middle, and the bottom. The last year or two now we run 5.5-6.5 motors and run mainly around the bottom of the track. I know that the cars have gotten a whole lot better but I like the idea of peddling the car around the track on the bottom or hammering it around the top. That was the biggest draw for me to get into the loose dirt stuff. I haven't been to Bill's yet this year and I'm sure it is better since the banking in 3-4 is better now. I will find out in a couple weeks as I'm planning on coming over then.

I know you were talking loose dirt tracks in the area....no biggie.....will also try a little harder to not cater to one specific class....make sure you bring your Bow Ties.....LOL See ya in a couple weeks!

Even the street tracs are not always what they are cracked up to be. Most times when street tracs are supposed to be the hot ticket, JConcepts Gold Bar Codes are faster.

Exactly.....I wouldn't run them on a "loose" type track.....to inconsistent. Never know when you are going around.....Bar Codes are a good tire for Bill's for sure.....

Could someone tell me or show me a picture on a good way to mount all my electronics in a GBX sprint.
Ive got the Novak brushless unit and the Futaba Fastt receiver.
Im looking to mount it all and not for sure where would be good.
