View Full Version : "Racing Against Cancer" Fall Fun Series

I will be promoting a 3-race FUN series in the fall. This series is just to bring together the racers so they can have fun playing with their toy cars. There will not be any points kept, but these three races will be each tracks respective end-of-the-year "BIG SHOW". All of the series classes will be offered, along with local option classes at each tracks discretion.
The best part of this series, is that we will be raising funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. $5 from each entry will go straight to the cancer fund, as well as proceeds from 50-50 drawings, and raffling off some big ticket items!
My goal, is to raise $5000 which will be donated on behalf of the Dirt Oval Racers in California to help fight cancer. I believe this goal is very achievable, and if we can reach the BEST of the WEST Series average of over 100 entries, we will raise at least $1500
Series Schedule:
Central Valley Raceway - Madera, CA September 18-19
Rescue RC Speedway - Rescue, CA October 16-17
Racers Haven Raceway - Bakersfield, CA November 20-21
I hope to see you all at one if not more of the shows. Remember, as well as racing for fun, we will be racing for a cause!

Matt,
this is a great idea for sure! are Haven and Madera going to be sealed tracks for this series? (never mind the naysayers, I love the sealed tracks! well maybe not the tire wear at madera though)

I say run em sealed, that has been some of the greatest racing....Matt I think you've hit on something great here, my wife had a radical hystarectomy last Oct because she was diagnosed with stage II cervical cancer, she is 35 and we have 3 kids so you can imagine the panic thst created in our family. I raced at an off road race last year in Reno that was a cancer "memorial" race for another guy who lost his wife to cancer, but thanks to more advance in research and techniques I can race in a series that will celebrate survival and raise money for further survivors. My wife just found a reason to like racing again, Thanks..

I wanted to take off the worst of the summer months, and avoid the excessive heat.
Madera and Racers Haven will be sealed tracks. Rescue will be run just like the series race was run just over a month ago. Consistent watering in pre-specified intervals.
All 3 tracks were more than excited to be a part of the mini-series-for-a-cause!
We will work on the surface at Madera, and do our best to make it less abrasive, and that race will be on foam tires for the 10th scale cars.
Racers Haven will be similar to the surface we ran on last weekend.
I tried to schedule a fourth race at another track, but my calls were never returned..... guess they didnt want to be a part of it all....... too bad. Another race would have really helped our cause.
Thanks for your support guys. Working together I think we can reach the Goal of $5000. I crunched some numbers, and came up with $3500 as a reasonable goal to reach for, but with such a great cause in front of us, I decided to reach for the stars!!! Lets make this happen guys!

Hay guys this sounds awesome! There's nothing better than racing for a reason, no matter what your racing! And as for cvr being abrasive, I only had two days to get that track ready due to weather so I promise it will be much smoother and be well lit! And I believe the tire rule will be open for all classes, and I would sure love to see a 15 min main for the 8 scales to!

Foams on the sealed track at Haven were great Brandon, almost zero wear on the silvers and golds I was running. And The track wasn't that bad for race one, especially with how quickly you guys had to work.
So Matt, if the tracks are sealed does that mean that redding kids aren't coming? :ha:

Nope, they will not be coming...they quit already. Although I am told they would be running up front if they had top equipment.
On another note, this will be fun to see how fast a car can go at CVR on foams....

I guarantee the Big Boys from Redding will be there though!!!!! I don't care if it is racing on cardboard with tape covered tires, I'm there dude!!!!!!!! So Matt what your saying is you'd like to have a 4th race????? Hmmmmmm How about a high banked paved oval or an indoor dirt if we could arrange either up our way?????

I "WAS" trying to make another race. I cannot squeeze anything else into my schedule. I promised someone I would help them promote a race, but it looks like it wont happen. Got plenty of racing going on already!
