Maybe next series we can do a 13.5 Wingless sprint car class too??? Must use a the steet-trac tire (stock compound) at all tacks. Maybe be fun what do you guys think???

So, just looking over what classes everyone wants to run, I would say we should have at least 12 different classes next year to accomodate everyone's fancy. This is exactly what has killed Paved Oval racing! I've got 6 of those on the shelf in the garage because I don't know what the motor/battery combo of the week is!
Too many classes dillutes them and before you know it, one or two people dominate each class of their expertise and people stop attending as it becomes a special interest class only.
Matt has listened to all of you racers, made adjustments to accomodate some, but overall, has made changes for the betterment of this Series and competition. He took and made an entry level class, Rookie Slash but what do we hear, 1/18 Losi slider class, 1/18 late model class,etc.. Entry level, low $$,easy to repair!
Let's not dilute the quality of the program with non-sense classes. An effort has been made to have the rest of the country take notice that the best Dirt Oval racing in the country takes place in the West and is called the "Best of the West" Dirt Oval Series!

I like the idea of wingless, but I think having another class will not be good for racing, and to run street tracs at every track my not work either! But I my self am not gonna run wings a speedworld!

We used to run paved oval up in Redding, 3 classes, Nascar. sprint car, legends. then it ended up going to 7-8 classes w/ 5 guys in a class, got so spread out guys lost interest, same thing happens in big stock cars all the time. A wingless special event would be cool on pavement or something, but not as a BoW class, I would think we would want to run the main base classes that the DODC runs to keep it simple and consistant. Don't get me wrong, wingless would be cool, but as a special side event or something, just my 2 cents.
Matt, just wanted to give a "job well done" for the series to this point, I really like the fact you guys take the time to listen to the racers, consider smart changes to better the racing and do what it takes to make great races.... This is the most fun I have had racing in 20years!!!

If you brake down the class in any way it will kill the class and the seires. Please don't do it.

I'm already running 13.5 and with my little mini associated wing it's almost like wingless LOL... But thanks to Kipps Hobbies for their GREAT sponsorship of this series I have a brand spanking new 7 x 7 wing!! woohoo Thanks Kipps!!!

I agree that adding more classes will likely dilute the classes we already have which seem to have good support. Let's just find some more dirt. I'm keeping my fingers that BRC does not get paved as is the rumor.

LOL.... There will not be a wingless class, this year or next. I will keep classes to a minimum. However, there is not a rule saying you "have to" run a wing..... Take it off, try it out. You can run non wing and street tracs with a 13.5 at the next three series races, if you choose to. That is all within the rules!

I do think there may be room for an open SCT class, what with the emergance of the 4wd trucks and all... Also that would leave the stock class for the rookies and the open class for the more seasoned professionals LOL

An open short course class defeats the purpose of racing Short Course trucks on the dirt ovals. Short course trucks are great entry level, cost effective, durable trucks to get the feel for wheel to wheel dirt oval racing. The last thing we need is another class of $600 to $1000 cars. From short course, the natural progression is into electric sprint cars or late models. We use "Non-Dirt-Oval" cars for a way to draw racers to Dirt Oval racing, and when ready, they can move up to real dirt oval cars. I will never offer an "Open Short Course" class, nor will I offer a Truggy class. They are not Dirt Oval vehicles.
An alternative to Open SC class, that I would be very open to, would be a spec Slash-Model class. I would call it Sportsman Late Models. All cars must be a Traxxas Slash, with a Losi 8th Late Model body on it. Same spoiler and end cap rules as 8th Late Models. 13.5 or higher brushless systems, but maintain all the other spec rules. Stock tires, servos, parts, etc. This will allow guys to have a graduation from Spec short course trucks into a faster, better looking Dirt Oval styled class. I would have a Speed control rule, making guys run non-boost-profile ESC's. They are easy and cheap to come by now days.
That is my offering to the racers, a fun, cheap, aesthetically pleasing option to Spec Short Course trucks, which could bridge the gap between SCT and Full Blown Dirt Oval cars.

id say get rid of short course and make it a 1/18th scale losi slider class box stock it will be the best and funnest class for beginers and its cheap car $109 tires $20 a set batteries $30 cheap and fun im doing it when we dont have series races and its hands down the cheapest racing and almost the funnest just a sugestion

no way i can drive my truck into the wall normally and not break a thing more fun for the low budget guys. normally all the sct finish a race, normally not all the sprints do...

Where is 'Joe Blow' going to take a Slider or Mini Slider to 'bash'. I used to think oval was stupid, anyone can go in a circle. That is why I did offroad. Then I ended up down in Bakersfield on more and more Friday nights so I could leave early Saturday morning to help my Fiance race her midget. Then I started running oval. There were more guys, closer racing, actual passing. The more I learned about suspension on the midget, the better I did on offroad AND oval.
That is why the SCT has been the best 'vehicle' for a 'starter' class. Anyone can go buy one, or get one for their birthday, xmas, etc. If they have an interest to race, a class is there, they can try either offroad or oval. Yes, the mini slider and slider are also cheap alternatives, which if left in a 'spec' configuration provide very competitive racing. We had more than 25 mini sliders at Haven for a short period of time. Then it died because everyone wanted LiPo, brushless... Frank also sold lots of parts as the mini's are more fragile.
I love my EDMs (no where to run on West Coast), my electric/nitro sprints are awesome along with my electric/nitro latemodels. I've also been into this for over 5 years and there is no way I would have spent the money out of the gate. SCT puts the biggest smile on my face!! Rubbing fenders and smac talk and laughing on the drivers stand is why.
Matt's Slash Models would be a great step up class for people who want to go faster, but don't want to spend the $300+ on a dirt oval kit.
