I want to know which racers would like to run a Rookie Slash class. I will pull the finishing spots of these racers from the first two races in the overall class, and give you the correct points accordingly for your own slash class.
I am all for having a Rookie class, and allowing our future racers to develop on their own pace, with racers of a similar skill level.
We will debut the official Rookie Short Course Class at Racers Haven, and continue it throughout the series.
I will however use my discretion when considering who belongs in the "ROOKIE" class.

Matt,
Go ahead and stick both Jacobsen's; Amanda (age 12) and Kelly (age 9) in the rookie class.
Signed,
Their dad (Brian)

While I feel my son (Christopher Stevens, age 12) did well at CVR, I believe he would be better served by racing in a rookie class at least for the remainder of this year. While he actually started racing early last year, he had to take a long break last year due to my work schedule. This is his first full year of racing, and although he has flashes of brilliance, he still has lots of learning to do...
Regarding the points, ask the racers to declare the rookie class starting with the Haven race, and award the highest finisher at the previous races first place points, the next highest finisher second place points and so on. I would say no TQ points should be awarded for the Rookie class for the first two races, but participation/show points should be given.

Kevin,
Christopher was about the only one I had in mind when thinking about who "could" run Rookie, but could do well in the higher skilled class.... It seems, the better racers he is up against, the faster he goes.... He is the one that I think belongs in both classes! LOL.

I am very happy to be able to offer a rookie class for Dirt Oval racing... there is really not a rookie dirt oval car available, and the slash is the best alternative!!!
A race program is only as strong as its novice class!!!

A Spec-1/10th Slider Class would be a good rookie class for the dirt oval...

I agree, to a certain point.... but the cars must be durable, affordable, and they must be able to get around the track reasonably well. The slider unfortunately comes with tires that really do not excel on any surface... especially dirt! The transmissions have proven succeptable to failure, even with stock RTR motors..... The RTR ESC's have issues.... Many tracks ran them as a entry level spec class, but too many issues made the class short lived.
The slash is virtually bulletproof, quite affordable, and works decently well on any surface! The slash is single handedly the greatest RC vehicle of all time! I love them and what they are doing for the RC Industry!

I would possibly offer a Slider spec class in 2011, if there was more than 10 interested parties....
