The Series finale at BRC will now be anothehr SPEC tire race! In order to control costs for racers, and keep the racing on such a level playing field, all Super Dirt Late Model racers must now utilize the LOSI DLM2 spec tire at all 5 stops in the BEST of the WEST Series. I am making this announcement 3 months in advance, so racers should have plenty of time being prepared!

I have passed along the feedback I have been getting from our racers on the DLM2 tires to Team Losi, and they are committed to perfecting this spec tire.

I cannot stress enough, check your beads, WHEN NEW!!! and re-glue any spots coming off, and then glue another complete bead around the entire tire and wheel at the bead.

Thanks guys for your support!!!

I just spoke with Losi/Horizon..... over 150 pairs of the DLM2 Tires have been sold to California Hobby Shops in the past 10 days..... Not sayin that you have not looked, but maybe call around a bit. As stated in Mr 45's post, Speedworld has a bunch in stock...

Snatch whatever tires you can.... we have a spec tire rule and 3 more races to go.... more WILL be available.

If we cant get them for Haven, I will make a decision on other options, but no point playing the if game yet. I have some pull with Losi, so be patient, and buy whatever tires you can find!

Both Roland and I ran the losi Tires at BRC one day after the races where over. Track was dry. We had good grip and not more then .02 off on lap times and good ware.

cary, if no one has them there are about 12 sets available on e-bay!!

I know DLM2 tires are the right choice for racers..... they work well, everyone is on a level playing field, and instead of racers needing 2 or 3 sets of 3 or 4 different tires, they only need a couple sets of one tire. All racers know exactly what tire they need to be on to win...LOL.

Yup, I know the right tire.... Rc4less pink foams. These DLM2 tire are weak. Why not let us glue our own. The beads break so easy, whose to say you can't just slip whatever insert you want into them. If I can't order tires from a popular hobby site them I'm OUT.

Rolland, we will miss you. I am sorry that the demand for the tires has far exceeded Losi's expectations. Trust me when I say I will do everything I can to ensure people have tires. IF, and this is the "if game" I don't wanna play... but if I cannot get enough tires and make them available for EVERYONE, then I will make another decision and allow another tire, but it will still be a spec tire rule.

But until I hear "bad news" about tires, DLM2 is the tire we will be on.

Foam tires are not a cost effective alternative to DLM2's, at least in regards to my intent of a spec tire rule. Companies are making 3 or more compounds.... I know from experience, the softer compounds are worth 2 tenths.... but they wear terribly. Guys that can afford a $500 tire bill for the weekend will dominate, eliminating the whole cost-savings of the spec tire.

I have had foam tire edges come off the wheel..... no different than the rubber tires.

Rolland - You don't wanna race "1/8th scale battle bot super hack models" anyways...LOL

Matt I'll miss it too. Hopefully I can find tires. I guess I just had higher expectations for the tires. What kind of glue do you seal your beads with? The losi thin CA I have been useing seems too brittle.

Losi Thick, Blue label...

Since the subject has come up Why can racers not buy these unmounted?? I understand the whole insert deal but with your pull with Losi and the current problem with the glue job that they do it would only make sense that they would give guys the option to glue them themselves.

As far as that goes, It's a corporate decision. I am lobbying for that.... we will wait and see.

Why not hand out tires, brand the inside of the rim and at the end of the event u take them back or each event brand a new set and that will be included in ur entre fee.

Matt Murphy

For one, we are mandating a certain tire, not limiting guys to one set..... Spec tires, with limits on tires creates a tire management nightmare.... especially with most of our tracks being super high bite....

I have been told a batch of tires will arrive a week prior to the Racers Haven race. Thats all the details I have so far, but I should have plenty of tires for all at Racers Haven.

Make sure your local shops have DLM2 tires on Backorder thru Horizon Hobby. If they do, Backorders should be filled with plenty of time to spare for Racers Haven. If they do not have them on backorder yet, advise them to do so.

The aero-efficiency was reduced and the balance of my slash went away. Thank goodness for 2 minute grace periods in A-Mains, or Wescott may have had something for me.
