Great Idea! By the way Mike, did you race wed.night? Were the latemodels able to lower the nose of the bodies back down a bit yet?

Ok here's the top secret gear ratio I used Wednesday night.

86 spur.

42-46 pinion.

2.6 gearbox

42/86=2.047x2.6 gearbox=5.3237 at the axle.

44/86=1.9545x2.6=5.081

46/86=1.8695x2.6=4.8607

44/86 was fastest

So with a 2.4 gearbox: 5.081ratio /2.4gearbox=2.1171 86/2.1171=40.62 tooth pinion

Sure did. Track is awesome, fast and smooth. I lowered the nose 2 holes on the body post and took out 3/8 inches of spacers under the back.

Stiffer front springs.

See above for gear ratio.

I didn't have any high bites to try. Just ran the mediums with no grooves.

I was just a little less than 2 tenths slower than the mod sprints.

Huh? you are pulling a lower gear than I, I guess it's time to change a pinion & drop the nose...Can't wait till friday night!

How many were running high bites vs. regular tires? I ran a set of high bite deep tread fronts ( would have run H.B. shallow tread if I had them) & high bite shallow tread rears. My rear tires are done, after 4-5 nights on them. Prior to the last two nights, I had doped them ALOT, so I'm alright with them being done already, just curious to see what other people were doing.

I'm just hoping to get back out to the track soon! I shimmed down my steering rack so hopefully that cures my binding up. The cars are a ton of fun though. Mine feels a lot like driving my mini late model last year, when we couldn't use spikes. Always on the edge on spinning out. That's how I like it.

Everyone should be commended on the cool paint schemes, The class looks super scale when watching it.

Jim, I am using shallow tread hb on front and rear, I only clean them 1 time before racing and do not clean them at all through the night and they still look like they did when new?

Why don't we try to keep this class with just 1 legal battery. I know there has been talk of adding different brands of batteries to this class for the series due to the smc packs with deans connectors not being available. Why doesn't anyone want to buy the smc pack with the traxxas connectors? They are available at Horizon, and at many hobby shops. The hobby shop in Quincy sells them for 83.00 bucks with traxxas connector. He just got 6 more in store last week. I would rather see us stick to these smc packs instead of adding the different packs that may or may not run any better?
The SMC packs have been the batteries used since the class was started around here. I just wanted to point out that the SMC packs with the traxxas connectors are available. If you want to buy any, call 217-222-9473 ( Quincy Action Hobby) Dave has them in stock.

I also posted this on the series thread in race events and tracks. Hope to hear feedback, good or bad.

Thanks

Jason

I think I had heard that SMC recently received more batteries from the mfg., so this should become a non-issue & leave the SMC battery rule in place. I for one DO NOT want the rules altered to allow other packs, then 3 weeks later, outlaw them when the SMC's become more readily available. If they allow the "other" battery company to be legal, they should be of similar specs & don't alter the rules in the middle of the season...I'm just sayin;)

I agree Jason. If SMC can produce the 3200 28c lets stay with the current rule.

If you look under the dodc rules discussion forum, There is a thread about this and in the thread Rob Cutman says the battery will be available shortly. That was a week or so ago so they should be available now.

I have a smc that went bad and have been talking to Danny, they were waiting to take care of me till they got some in stock. He told me last wed that thursday or friday there shipment should be in and they would take care of me then. So they should be showing up shortly.

this thread has been sitting idle for a while, so I thought I'd remind people it's here. How about that 52 lap track record?!;) All of these cars are developing & getting faster for sure:thumbsup:

It will be a close class to race in as well as fun, I agree with Jim as we get them figured out they are going faster.
