I want you all to know how proud I am to help bring California Dirt Oval Racers together again, for the first time in almost 15 years. I have put in countless hours, trying to put the right rules in place, and make a package that suits all racers and all tracks. I have put together a 5 race series, with 5 VERY different tracks. This will be a true challenge of both Driver Skill, and setup ability. I want you all to know how thankful I am to be able to draw so many racers, with varying skill levels, from all over the State of California.
I will get butterflies in my stomach when I see all the great faces at the Driver's Meeting..... and watching full heats of cars racing hard..... and most of all when I see the comraderie that brings us all together as we play with our toy cars..... and know that I had a hand in all of this.
No matter who you are, what you do, where you are from, or how much you spend to race dirt oval with us, for 5 minutes, on the drivers stand, we are all equal. We are all passionate RC Dirt Oval enthusiasts, and no one person is better than anyone. Sure, one car may beat another, but without one another, we wouldn't be able to race. Let's remember what is Important, and have a great time with old friend's and new ones just the same.
Please remember, a traveling series is about experiencing different tracks, and facing new challenges. It is about adapting your car and your driving to the track, and doing so competitively against your fellow racers.
It is not about winning or losing. We currently have 120 cars slated to show, and I am expecting around 140 actual entries. That means out of 140 cars, we will have only "6" Winners... Not very good odds... but its about racing, having fun, and creating memories. Having a competitive spirit, and wanting to win is great, and I wanna win as bad as the next guy. But I really hope we can create a fun atmosphere, that is as much about competing, and having fun, as it is about winning. I hope people do not quit the series after 2 or 3 races because they mathematically cannot win the points championship. True racers are in it for the long haul, and I hope to see every smiling face from the first series race, at the series finale in 4 short months.
Thank you all for your support of the BEST of the WEST Series, and for taking time to read this. I hope you all think about what I have written, and keep it in the back of your mind.
