Last weekend's Mini Late Model racing was full of close racing, particularly in the Expert class. The top three all finished on the lead lap with the margin of victory being 0.008 seconds after a last lap, last turn move by Jim McGuire to get under Cliff Wilkinson which provided a drag race to the line. Very similar to the NASCAR Darlington race a few years ago between Kurt Busch and Ricky Craven.

Results from last Sunday can be found here: http://www.allensrccars.com/2010results/carpet_3_28_10.html

The series takes an off week this weekend for Easter Sunday and returns again the following week for the series finale on April 11th. The current point standings do not reflect the worst race dropped as of yet. However, calculating the worst races for each driver, it appears with last week's win, Brian Mills has clinched the championship in Sportsman going into the final race.

The expert class, however, is still up for grabs. In the most recent race, Cliff Wilkinson managed a strong 2nd place finished while Steve Quartermouse choked and finished a dismal 7th place. This sets up a season finale where if Cliff finishes 2nd or better, he takes home the championship no matter what Mouse does. However, if Mouse wins and Cliff Finishes 3rd, they would tie with the tie breaker having to go to who has the most 2nd place finishes (both would have the same number of wins) which would give the championship to Mouse.

Should be one heck of a final race.

The following week after that on April 17th is the 500 lapper. This will complete the indoor carpet season. So far it sounds like we have more interest this time around than last time so it should be a fun event. Working on having plaques for the top 3 finishers in each class. Get your teams ready, its going to be a good one!

...and we all crashed upside down - sideways - crossways and backwards after the finish line - just like the Darlington race... That was a great finish Cliff! Hope you had as much fun as me.

I know one thing, I'm moving my transponder ALLLLLLL the way forward from now on... :D
