No,, the series should run dodc rules. Its what the racers want.

March 7th, 2010, 3:06 PM
After talking to a couple track owners.... Its not what the racers want, There's WAAYYYYY more people happy with the rules than upset with them. And even some of the outside people that don't run the series say the rules are good. I don't care about the rules, they put them up in advance so there is plenty of time to abide by them. Tekin's/Mamba's have good resale, or it can go in the sprint. A sphere/gtb can be had dirt cheap right now.

no maryville should be running dodc rules, Matt you can not fault a track because they want to run the correct rules for club racing.don't make sense.

I'd like to see dodc rules used. Makes sense nationally. Plus theres a bigger chance to attract racers from outside this area. Plus Maryville is listed on this websight as a track that utilizes dodc rules and classes. What happens if you come from out of town and find out your car can't run because its illegal. If its run under dodc rules, any chassis can run, and a few more bodies can be used.

Didn't mean to start this all over again... I simply stated that Bill's should be running the WCIS rules, i didn't know they were running any different?

Matt Bill is running the wics race rules only that one race then he will be running dodc the rest of the time . It will bring racers in from all over without getting in their pocket to race at his track .

i thought the rules were settled, now the few people that got rules changed so the masses has to change to those rules, then i have a ? for all those people that are running sprints this year. If your going to run sprints by dodc rules then what I read in the dodc rules that there is no solid side pannels allowed, then the few people that are wanting dodc rules have these solid side pannels and they are not following the dodc rules but the wcis rules instead.

Since I have no affiliation with Maryville, Allen's, Bill's or Bear's track, I have a question that has been weighing on my mind, and maybe on the minds of a few others, for some time now.
Rather than trying to change everyone's mind about rules, why don't you guys (and you know who you are) just go race at Bill's (which I suspect is what you really want to do anyway)??? I'm sure that you guys feel that your opinions are flawless and you are entitled to them. If you are right, then Bill will have a banner year, people will come from far and wide, the hobby will benefit and through the wonderful free market system he will benefit from his choices.
If at some point you become disenchanted with Bill's (and I suspect you will if history repeats itself) you can invest the $20K plus or whatever it takes to open a track, put your name on the sign and run the thing however you feel appropriate. All of the track owners (Bill included, i am not excluding him, he is doing his best as well) have invested a lot of themselves both financially and personally and do not deserve to see their intelligence, reputations or businesses dragged down by armchair quarterbacks.
I understand that the internet generically and this forum specifically are for the open exchange of information but at the point that decisions are made, plans finalized and schedules are set it's time to move on. Just as you are free to get on this forums and spew your opinion, you are equally free to vote with your dollars and let others do the same.

I dont have $20K to race/build a track!!!, I just want to have one set of rules that fits all the racers, not to jump around and to bend to the wills of a very few that wnat the rules to favor the "deep pocket" racers. The WCIS rules for 2010 is by far the most detailed set of rules that I have seen in quite a while, it follows the DODC in all the mod and nitro classes but, it puts more set guidelines for the spec classes while the dodc rules are general in basics.

We do not run solid side panels... there are driver compartment openings and the cutouts for the hood as well... A solid side panel would cover the whole side of the cage ( a flat piece of lexan with no holes) This was clarified by Rob Cutman last year.
I also think that "20k for the track" was not pointed at you.... It was pointed towards the others that want to run the dodc set of rules.

Brian, The series rules are still in place and settled for the WCIS stuff so you don't have to worry about that including the series race at Bills. Bill is going to run the DODC rules for his weekly shows as that's what his racers want, but that doesn't affect the series stuff.

I think this has been beaten to death as much as it can be.
Like Scott said the rules have been set, schedules have been posted, and outdoor season is getting closer. There are MORE than enough people happy with the current rules as they are and I'm sure Maryville doesn't need the same 3 or 4 people to come on their forum and poke the dead horse with a stick everytime it finally settles down.
Its a shame Bill couldn't stick with the rules he told the other three track owners he was going to use, but on the other hand he has to do what he thinks is best for his track and his racers; and if they told him they wanted to run Tekin's, then he has the right do allow them in his weekly racing. But lets not kid ourselves into beleiving Bill has DODC rules. Last I checked DODC didn't allow a 7x8 wing or .18 size motor in Nitro sprint, nor does it allow side dams on Late Models, or does it have ANY restrictions on ESC's in electric classes (those poor LRP and Mamba guys must be having fits). Bill's rules are nothing more than tweaked WCIS rules which makes him no more of a DODC track than anyone else... which is fine if that works for him.
The racers will race what they want and where they want based on what they feel the most comfortable with. I'm sure all four tracks will do fine this season with their given rules so there really isn't any need to keep stirring up the drama. Bill did what he feels is best for him and his racers, and so did the other three tracks and lets leave it at that.
Time to go racin' :revs:

did i miss something was maryville a dodc track last year,i never heard one time that the track used WCIS rules until they held the WCIS race.
so in 2010 you change the club rules from dodc to WCIS, The real shame is maryville changing the rules.

My biggest question is why are you unhappy guys bitchin on the Maryville thread??????????
It seems to me that there are 3 tracks running the series rules and 1 track running something else. I think
WCIS: http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48318
Bill's: http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48521
I'm happy with the series rules but I do have some questions for Bill's. See you over there.

We aint bitchin were boycotting! Im sure you can run motors and batteries without stickers, they just have to be smc 3200 28c and a novak motor. I read your running mod lm. Bills has a billboard class. Prolly wont be very popular. Oh ya where were you last year? Remember asphalt is for getting to the track!;)

I have a b4 electric buggy that i converted into a late model and I was wondering if maryville has a class i can run, like an open class? I have a fantom 13.5 in it with just a cheap ESC and battery. I am saving up my money to buy the correct esc, battery and motor so i can race in the 13.5 class. So if someone can help me hopefully i can come down and race at your guys track.
Thanks
