Track will be open for practice Friday afternoon and evening April 2nd. There will be a $5 practice fee which will help this club keep their doors open and help pay for the lights/electricity/etc.

There is power and limited pit tables, also about a mile away there's a subway, wendys and quiznos. You will be better off bringing all your own pit equipment!

I tried to register for the race on the CVR Registration page and neither this event nor the 4/3 Mid State Dirt Oval Shoot Out is listed nor is the 10,5 Sprint class listed in the class drop down menu. The email I sent via that option on the site was rejected. I did leave a phone message for Ruben to find out how to register. Am I missing something?

Got a call from Ruben. No pre-registration needed. We just need to add our names and classes to the thread here and register at the track. Thanks Ruben for the quick call back.

Matt Murphy

I think it is 160-170 ft based on the measurements Brandon gave me. We will try to measure it this weekend. The track is being redone as we speak, and the pipes will be redone as well. Gonna try to get up there to play around on Saturday.

Are we going to be able to leave our pit tables and awnings set up overnight Friday after practice? How is the parking situation looking? looks like there is going to be a butt load of cars and trailers. Thanks

I think we will play that by ear and see how many guys stay the night! Brandon

Phil, basically you can leave your stuff out, at your own risk. There is no gate to lock your stuff in, but the track is pretty secluded. If people are staying the night, it should work out.

I'm sure someone asked and i just missed it, but is overnight parking with a 5th wheel available at CVR??? I need to know the same for Racers Haven.

Matt Murphy
March 22nd, 2010, 2:16 AM
Gatepro - I am sure we will be able to find you a place to park your rig at both tracks, but it may be somewhat far from the track because we have to house 100+ cars.....

CVR has a big dirt parking lot, and is kinda off the beaten path, so we can definitely get you a place to park....

Racers Haven is in the back of a Shopping Center, and has a good amount of available parking, but you may need to park out front during the day, and pull in after racing is done.

OK guys, I have been asked by several racers about the "NEW" surface at CVR.....

-No "new" dirt was brought in......however.....
-The track was cut VERY deep, and to everyones surprise, there was lots of moist clay underneath the original track surface. This has been mixed in with the previous topsoil/dirt mix and should make the track smooth, hard, fast, and consistent.....
-Brandon finished the shaping of the track this weekend, and soaked it heavily, and it is drying out for the next few days. He will be weeding out any remaining rocks and dragging the track this week, and it will be ready for racing this Saturday!

Ok, I am passing along a few questions I was asked at this weekends race. How many rounds are we running? Are there lights at the track? will there be enough power to support all the racers and pit lights? Handicap access? bathroom? Not trying to be a pain in the A#@. Just trying to help out some fellow racers who have never been there.
Brandon, Matt, I know it will be along day, Call me if you need any help with anything.

I've never been to CVR and plan on running the 10.5 sprint and LM classes. To make sure we have the proper selection of spurs and pinions can someone in the know give us a ballpark idea of a typical combination of 10.5 motor, trans ratio (either 2.4 or 2.6) probable tire and pinion and spur? I learned my lesson the first time I went to a new track and was completely out to lunch.

Thanks, Frank.

Phil - We are running three rounds of qualifying, and the start time will be 10AM. I was planning on starting more towards one, but with the tremendous car count, that will not work out.....There are lights, and we will be running the mains under the lights!...... There should be plenty of power, CVR hosts bigger off-road races every year, so we should be fine. However we ask that anyone bringing a trailer or camper, please bring a generator to power yourself...... A handicap ramp was just built this past weekend to accomodate our handicapped racers...... There is a permanent restroom, and a few porta-johns are being brought in...... You are not a pain, just looking out for everyone!

Frank - I did some calculations, and I will be starting with a 75 spur and a 32 pinion on my sprint with a 10.5. My late model will probably run a 13.5 at 75 spur and 35 pinion. Both with street tracs and 2.4 trannys. I plan on running street tracs the whole weekend.

Frank - 81 spur and 29 pinion to start with a 10.5 and pin spike tires... assuming a 2.6 tranny.
