How do you regester for the URL and what will the entry fee be? or do you just show up?

You don't have to register, just show up. The entry fees are usually $20 with $15 going to the track operator and the other $5 going to the URL points fund.

Why a Tri-Oval??? The track size and shape were just fine the way they were.

JW8
February 5th, 2010, 11:24 AM
Darn off road guys start to weasel their way into a track and the ovals start to shrink.... Hard to picture what that track will look like now.

Will they be running offroad and oval on the same nights/times? Seen that tried here in Hutch and did not work out to well. The two groups usually have different ideas on what track conditions should be like.

plipitkc
February 5th, 2010, 12:54 PM
Off road and oval never did mix well. How wide are the lanes? The old oval was almost too narrow for the L8M.

May be time to BAJA... Werner, You want a Latemodel?

Well I do know that from day one since The Barn track was built, it was known that when Adams Creek started that the The Barn would shut down for the summer. Original intentions were to be a place to race during the winter for those that didnt like running carpet. However, with everything goin on at Adams Creek I dont know what will happen this year. I for one am not very happy about the building being put over ACR. I liked the fact that we could be outside racing. Being outside in the sun was all part of it. I am not really sure why the building is being put over the track. If it was for the weather, the track drained really well and rarely had any rainouts. If it was to bring back the racers that left to race The Barn, not so sure that will happen as The Barn has a fun laid back kind of attitude with no screaming and yelling at each other. Now ACR is going to have an offroad track integrated with the oval. NO THANKS they tried that before the current oval was built and there was always disagreements. Oh and now to mention the word on the street is the track will be a trioval. Again NO THANKS. I am not running nacar style cars. I run SPRINT CARS. I want the oval to be oval. I always like ACR the way it was. You know what they say "if it aint broke, dont fix it" I guess we will just have to wait and see how things play out this season.

gr8pumpkin
February 5th, 2010, 3:08 PM
Wow honestly a tri-oval? That is the worst thing i think i have ever heard of doing to a dirt oval. I under stand about maybe making it a "D" shape cuz ive ran those in real life and they aint to bad but to make it a true tri-oval? Come-on!:blackflag::thumbsdown:

We need someone from adams creek to get on here and explain themselves about doing this before we go and throw the baby out with the bath water. I might be new but i aint no dummy. So im pretty sure some clarification is gonna be handed out real soon before another dirt track loses all its racers due to trying to be different. My .02 not like they matter but hey who knows.

there will be an offroad built in the with the oval so they have an indoor offroad as well. So there will be an indoor and outdoor offroad track

And they got rid of the big track that many thought was the best oval there. Sometimes change for change sake is not a good thing. Hope this works out for the racers in Tulsa. Would be nice to know before the URL event what track layout will be.

RichardsonRacng
February 6th, 2010, 1:07 AM
Surely this isn't true. It would make sense for them to have an offroad under the new building in the winter, but surely not during the summer with the nice big offroad they just rebuilt being there? Unless they are really trying to get away from their neighbors. Man, I have a sc10 waiting for the big offroad and an electric sprint i built to run the old oval. It will suck if neither is possible! But one other thing I've learned is don't knock the ones with the major investment in this deal. In the end they have to do what's best for them and their future. Even if it sometimes doesn't make sense to us racers. And I understand we have vested interest as well, but it's not the same. If it was easy, enexpensive, and non political to own and operate a Rc track, we would all have one!!! Let's be patient and see what happens. Something will work out, it always does.

Went by yesterday. There is still a lot of work to be done. Brian did not know of the date change and still thinks it is on the 27th of March. John had three or four regular lights in, but was pretty dark. From what Brian told me, John is now doing all the work himself. I REALLY HOPE it is ready for the URL Race on the 20th. I also took it the the off-road will be layed out year round in case of rain outs for the outdoor track.

Joey Hornick
February 8th, 2010, 2:09 PM
I also stopped by there yesterday with Patrick Holt, and he might more info since he stayed longer talking with John. The building does look rather large compared to how big the track used to be. The overall facility looks nice, however I didn't think to ask him about an offroad track. I believe he said the dimensions were 96'x54' for a track.

Hey, just let you know. Track will be race ready! And to answer some of the other questions. The summer racing program will hace a OVAL track-NO inside off-rd. The tri-oval and inside off-rd is for winter racing. The carpet track will remain the same. In the past, we had a ti-oval and the racers enjoyed it. We have always tried to give racers a variety of tracks. Racer response always determines what kind of tracks we race. When we took the track back from Brian our numbers for winter racing were down. Our main goal is to keep racers summer and winter. We realize we can not please everyone but we have always tried to have a race facility that people enjoyed coming to. We are sorry if there has been any misunderstanding. The agreement between the Barn and ACR was when Brain Rainbolt was still operating the track. For info. johnbeighle@windstream.net. 918-688 4740

I VISITED THE TRACK TODAY AND IT LOOKS AWESOME. We stopped by on our way home and spoke with John and he gave us a tour. this is going to be a great facility to race at, track was looking great even though he was not finished putting all the dirt in yet. I can't remember the number of lights he said were in there but it will be bright inside that is for sure. One thing i can say is that he has put a lot of money in to this and it really shows, can't wait to get on it and race. For those that live up there he said they were going to race this weekend to raise more money for Marion Jackson's family.

I'm thinking he's going to run a full race program, not just URL classes, so we'll need to get started probably around 1:00 in order to be done by midnight. I'll talk to John and I'll get the race day info posted here pretty quick.

So does the track supply the transponders for the race or do you have to supply your own?

We will be traveling to the race from southern Indiana, about 11 or 12 hours, have some questions about the track that would be helpful to have answered before we make the trip. We have tried calling but can't catch anyone. If someone familiar with the facilty would be willing to try and answer our questions we would really appreciate it.
Thank you for any help,

The track has house transponders (might be a buck or two additional charge on entry if using house transponders) and the system will also work with personal transponders.

Guys, I took a few pics of the track today....check em out.

Man there is a ton of work that has gone into this place for sure! No longer will rain be an issue here...racing rain or shine...also no more miserable dry sunbaked dust bowl through the summer months. Thats what this building is all about. there are giant removable panels on both sides of the building so when the weather is nice, they will come out for an "open" feeling even though its covered. I think John has done a great job at trying to create the best of both worlds....all the benifits of an indoor track with a little bit of outdoor feeling. Its still a work in progress but I know it will only get better in the weeks to come.

The track is quite a bit different than what it used to be and it will take some getting used to but everyone will be racing on the same track. There is no "home track" advantage this year

Yes its pretty flat...may take a different setup.....the corners are more sweeping...may take a different setup......there are turtles on the bottom.....bottom feed at your own risk:D

The new track is a challenge but thats what racing is all about right?

Should be anybodys game next weekend! Whoever can adapt to a completely new track the fastest wins:checkeredflag:

FYI for those that are planning on traveling in a day early. ACR will be having a club race Friday evening before the URL race on Sat. I dont remember all of the details. But I do know that the cost will be 10.00 for 2 heats and a Main. Guessing that it should start about 6 of 7 that night.

ACR will have a friday night race. Will start at 7:00 and will run 2 heats and A main. Cost $10. Sat. track will be ready for pratice at 9:00, will race at 1:00. Cost $15 + URL entry. We have worked hard to get building and track ready for this race. We would like to thank all the people that has helped:) God Bless. Jeff Harper, good pics-Jeff is right, track is flat (3 degree bank) running lane 10ft. longer than last yr. Will be adding more dirt next week. If we have rain come on and race, we can pit 100+ racers inside both buildings

I don't have a list, but I will be available to help get all the names entered in the computer.

We'll need to open the sign ups as early as possible and close them around 11:00 or 11:30 so we'll have plenty of time to get them all in the computer and set up.

Another thing that will help is if you get everyone that shows up for the club race on Friday to go ahead and pre-register. That will get most of your locals and a few of your out of town guests.

Jeff Harper

I would guess about 180' drive line....approx 12' lanes and as you can see in the pics, the track has a pretty wide infield which makes the corners a little more sweeping.

My phone has been ringing off the the wall. To clear something up, it's not the forecast for the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area that concerns me, it's the forecast for further north. From OKC up to Wichita they are saying 5 to 8 inches of snow and with the projected high in that area of only 32 degrees if it does anything at all it will freeze and make for dangerous driving conditions. The Joplin area forecast says 90% chance of snow with significant accumulations expected.

I'm sorry that the decision to postpone had to be made, but I feel it's the better thing to do with a lot of our racers having to travel through these areas on their way home from the races.

My only question i show much of an effect you might have put on the Texas race by rescheduling it so close to our race, and you might have thought about canceling it earlier in the week, I know of some Texas racer that are already there and that forecast has been up since early this week. That's a pretty big loss for those guys. Well I hope this doesn't turn into a bad choice.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

well if they are alreay there they can still race the race. im still showing up so everybody else can still come out and race. just cuz a few guys arent showing up dont mean that the race should be canceled. I completely understand it being a safety issue for some drivers and these are still just toy cars. Hell in nhra i couldnt make it to some races cuz the weather was bad where i was coming from but they didnt cancel it. the point im making is that just cuz a few people cant make it dont mean it should be canceled is all, especially the day before when the same forecast has been up all week. its ones choice whether they want to show up and chance it or not. If they dont..... sweet i got a better chance to win, if they do show up..... sweet some kick ass compititon to race against but they show must go on. My .02 but what do i know i can barely find my way around the track. see everyone tonight and tomorrow.

Howard just wanted to say, I thank you made the right decision (cancellation of the URL race) at ACR. The weather was cold and wet, but we still had 123 entrys both nights. Enough to show us where to improve on track conditions. We also found problems in building conditions. (All will be ready in 2 wks.) We Pray that the Texas and Ark. drivers make a safe trip back home. Howard the 19 years that I have ACR I have never made a track related decision, that I had 100% of the racers support. You will make the choices that you think is best for the majority, and the majority will understand. Just remember a HOT seat in (COLD) weather is alot better than a (HOT) seat in (HOT) weather, you sweat alot less. SEE YOU IN 3 wks.

It was a hard choice to make and I was thinking of everyone's safety. The weather forecast said that a large Canadian storm would move thru the area and when I looked at the weather radar yesterday, I could see that the storm went from the Kansas state line all the way down to Hillsboro, TX. All the way from Wichita over past Joplin and it looked like the entire area was getting lots of snow and ice. We got right at 8 inches of snow here in the north TX area and it covered the roads. I haven't talked to anyone from up north today or heard what the conditions were up there last night, but I know I wouldn't have wanted to have to drive 220 miles in it at midnight.

I'm glad ACR still had a big turn out, despite the weather, and I hope everyone got home safe.
