Scott & I would like to extend our deepest thanks & appreciation to everyone, from the racers who came from all over the country, to the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event happen, to the sponsors who showered us with door prizes & monetary support. Without you, this race wouldn’t exist.
So a big pat on the back to our friends who stepped up to help:
Mike Bullock, Travis Young, Terry Downing, & Jerry Rodd -- who built & worked the track for us, a thankless job & headache that they handled wonderfully
Jim & Dillon Harden -- who took care of tech for us, an enormous responsibility
Cameron Moore --who helped everywhere asked from registration to track work to stacking tables
Rodger Moore -- who had a lot delegated to him to take some of the pressure off Scott
Brent Phillips -- for helping me figure out the lap time sheets for the trophy presentations & keeping me from messing things up & for other help given
Toby Brown -- for help with the computer, Lord knows I couldn’t figure it out!
Robert Chapman -- for being so darn cute & amusing me!
& last but certainly not least, the incomparable Steve “Stevie Mac” McCluney -- who ran the races with enthusiasm & personality & put up with me asking him stupid questions
A “thank you” doesn’t seem to be enough for everything you did, but we appreciate each & every one of you!
A huge thanks to our sponsors:
American Waste Control (our biggest sponsor this year) Discover Floors, Burggraf Restorations, Radisson Inn airport, Losi, Horizon Hobbies, Custom Works, Spektrum, Speed Passion, Byron Racing Fuels, Tekin, RB Mods, Stalker Bodies, The Barn Raceway (computer system & track equipment) , Joplin RC Speedway (transponders) , Wild Bill’s Speedway & Ronnie Chapman (transponder system), Holt Graphics (door prizes, trophy plaques, & tshirts) , The RC Pitstop (door prizes & on site hobby shop) , Hoss Motorsports, & ABF Wraps. If you get a chance, please support our sponsors. This race wouldn’t be possible without them!
And to our racers, another big thank you. Without you this race would die. We know how difficult it can be to take time off work to travel here, pay an entry fee, hotel, food, etc., in order to participate in this event. It was wonderful to catch up with old friends & make new ones. We both want to thank you for making the 2010 Chili Bowl Jr a success and enabling us to look forward to next year’s race.
Thanks go out to Chris Kovachevich, who has covered our race for RC Driver magazine & given us nationwide exposure. He has also posted pictures of the track, cars, & races on this site & others, posted the race results, & brought me chocolate. Thank you, Chris K!
This was the first year that Scott & I (mostly Scott, as I’m the official gopher/secretary) were responsible for this race. Any mistakes made were ours and ours alone and we apologize for them. Discussions are already taking place about improvements for next year to make the race run smoother & prevent any other problems (hopefully). We welcome CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, ideas, & suggestions. Please don’t contact us just to trash us.
I personally want to applaud my Scotty, who worked long hours & wore himself out to make this race happen. He made a thousand decisions, (some of them very difficult for him), took criticism , & handled problems as they arose as fairly & patiently as he could, and showed remarkable restraint in a couple of instances. He is the man I admire most in this world. You did great, Scotty. Love you!
And finally, we want to extend our congratulations to the 2010 Chili Bowl Jr champions -- it was almost a Texas sweep!
Nathan Dean -- Electric Sprint & Nitro Sprint
Casey Baker -- Electric EDM & Nitro EDM
Gary Guffey -- 1/8 Scale Late Model
Matt Murphy -- 13.5 Late Model
Thanks again for a great race. We hope to see everyone at the 2011 Chili Bowl Jr!
