First off The A main for 1/8th Late Models was the most impressive race I have seen, Mr. Guffey (TX) I have not seem him race before but this racer was on rails, he was dialed like no other. This race was loaded with some of the heaviest hitters in the industry and the country. But one drivers accomplishments stood out and may have been the most under the radar racer at the whole race. I am talking about Andy Groening (KS) driving against the toughest 1/8th Late Model Rubber tire drivers field in the country, He had that C & M bodied LM prepped and dialed, and qualified through the heats in the top 5. And moved his car to the point in the dash until the last turn of the last lap Mr. Eugene Ryder (IL) with maybe one of the most cleaniness passes of the whole day nipped him at the line. Very impressive Mr. Ryder! Mr. Groening was now sitting 2nd in the A main starting field. As the A main unfolded A. G. settled in and finshed 4th place you might say Hmm. One thing noted he is primarily an offroad racer, very little dirt oval racing at all. and the most humble low key racer I have seen and met. Just some interesting facts I noted and observed during the 1/8th Late Models racing in the finals.

Thanks,

I'm sure Andy will appreciate the kudos. I'll let him know your thoughts. Also Andy almost didn't come to this race. Two of my friends plus Andy and I were all set to head to Tulsa. An hour before departure Andy called to tell me he was too sick to get out of bed on Tuesday about 11am. So we loaded equipment into my truck and headed down. Then Wednesday morning Andy thought he could make it and did. I'm sure glad he did.

The A main was the cleanest 8th latemodel race of the whole day. Congrats to all who made it. Everyone did their job with passing and getting passed. That's REAL talent and I hope all the 8th latemodel racers took notice of how to race those cars instead of trying to drive through the other cars. I felt the qualifying was awesome all week...it seemed everyone understood how to let people by for the most part. Then on the day of the mains..uh...well it got ugly to say the least. One Hazard county car in particular really didn't understand how to race. He sure knew how to cause wrecks though. I hope other racers learned from his ugly driving and saw the off track results of doing so. Boom! Piff! Pow! LOL.

I totally agree about the A main. That was some EXCELLENT driving by the participants. Was really nice how lapped traffic would pull over when the leader came up to lap them instead of trying to race him. Nothing good ever comes out of trying to race the leader when you are a lap down. Usually both of you end up in a wreck and come out of it in even worse shape for both.

Great race! :p:p:p

BTW, I wasn't able to attend, but watched the footage by Mr. HConcepts. Some excellent work there, Brian (or Roy?) Big time attaboy for the Hicks Crew!

Everyone, go to Youtube and search for 'ovalgod08'. Lots of great racing footage from CBJ, Adams Creek, The Barn, Joplin and other area tracks!

I only have one thing to say about the extra stuff in the pits right in front of my table. I lost all respect for the race director Mr. Butts. If a fight happens we are all adults and know both parties involved should be asked to leave not just one. Trent Made a A Main in Nitro sprint and didn't even get to finish,Yet the guy who threw the first punch and then got his ass whooped finished a crash up derby B main...To me that was wrong.

I had a great time and enjoyed myself, but right is right...JMO

Thanks Chris,

All the guys out west have been telling me to get rid of my DO Pro and get a Losi. I hate to admit they may be right, but I think I will hang on a little longer. Glad to see a non sponsored guy on the top step of the podium.........

I know the Penthouse car won the Dash and led the A-main for 2 minutes (until the RF tire came unglued) with a Novarossi 367.

This is very true. I know that I had to re glue after almost every race at the CBJ.
I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the CBJ staff for a great show and a fast track. Also a big thanks to everyone who helped us out with setup. Hope to see you all in the 2011 CBJ.

We only had one tire break a bead out of 5 cars at our table over the three days. Chad Butler, Lars Johnson, Will Whisler, Chris K and myself. Most of us had taken and pushed the ones off the bead that would come off and simply reglued them before we went to the race. If you take a dremel with a drum sander, clean the old glue off the rim and the tire before you reglue it they should not come off.

I ran three sets and they all stayed glued, guess I wasn't going fast enough!! lol

LOL!!!!!!

Doug, if the one tire that came off is mine, I can honestly say that I don't think it was defective glue - I think it was 'helped' off!!!!!!!!!

What a great race! It was an honor to be there and race with you guys. The A-Main was simply unbelievable with Gary Guffey driving a smart and wicked fast race with Jason Hudson so close behind and Matt Murphy finishing third after bumping up from the C-Main with his Losi 350 (RTR) powered L8IGHT.
The race organisers and staff all deserve congratulatins as well for a well run event.
Regretfully there were a few tire failures but most seemed to be from older tires from the second shipment which we became aware of. None of the tires in my area most of which were from the more recent deliveries had a problem. If you should have a tire gluing failure and do not wish to fix it please send the tire to Losi here in CA and we will be happy to replace it.
We will not be happy until we have 100% quality in the gluing. The alternative will be to offer wheels, tires, and innerliners in a package unglued which race organisers do not prefer. We are looking into the effect that tire dope has on the glue as we saw that heavy and repeated doping kills the innerliner and may be contributing to the glue problem.
See you all next year!

I can't say that all battery problems can be fixed in this manner, but your particular problem can be fixed by simply pressing the CHARGE button....lol. Wolfman that was quiet a sprint car driving clinic you put on to take the TQ spot. Not sure how many people could have kept their cool and put together 2 TQ runs in a row after the first round woes you had. That was fun to watch.

Thanks Wolfman. I got a real "Charge" out of hanging with you guys as well.
It was a lot of fun and what racing is all about. We certainly had a lot of laughs most at your expense. I look forward to seeing you guys again soon.
