Figured I would start out saying.....back in like 1990, I first came to Albion to race some dirt oval.....track was fun and fast back in the day......7 cells, silicones and 12-13 turn motors.....and in 1992-93 the push to 6 cell and foams were going around......know who showed up? Brain Landgraff and some guy named Tony Stewart (some of you may know him by "SMOKE") Yep.....they came to this little track in the middle of nowhere IL and showed all of us that 6 cells and foams can be fun too. Then for some reason the dirt oval slowed down after a few years and the track switched to off-road......had a ton of good times racing there for a few more years till I got tired of jumps.....

Track was kinda quiet for a couple years and now all the sudden.....a few people wanted to race some oval there again so they set it back up.....My first trip there to run oval for like 13-15 years and the track was fast and still hooked up.....anyone wanting to run some foams on an indoor dirt oval should try to make it down......

Hey, who knows, if enough show up to run dirt oval, maybe they will wanna run it EVERY Sunday....right now its dirt oval and off-road every other week.....lets show em some support.....now they have a forum on here for this track so......

See ya all there!

Here's a little more Rector's history.

The track was opened in the summer of 1988 with the current track outdoors. That fall they built the building around the track and ran offroad and oval until early 1990 and then went to oval only. I still remember working on the track to get 5deg.banking in the turns an 2deg.in the straits. After it was rolled we then power troweled it to get a "almost smooth as glass surface". The racing line was 204ft.

The fastest lap time's were slow 4 to fast 5 second laps for the modified intimidator latemodel on silicones 6cell.

In 1994 oval racing was dead and the decision was made to run only offroad. That's when I took over operations and started Action Hobby.

We have many big events through the years including 2 ROAR regional offroad races and the Illinois State offroad champs.

In 2008 I sold my shop and turned over operations to Ryan McGehee of Ryno Racing. I am still involved with helping work on the track.

I would like to personally invite all of you to come and check out our facility in the near future.

Hopefully this will help to get the word out about the track, and get oval racing there back to how it used to be. See you guys next sunday. I had a blast last week:thumbsup:

Hey Tim nice to see you guys racing oval again. I hope to make it down there sometime this winter.

Hey Eugene, I remember that race too. Skip said that guy is Tony Stewart. We said, who's he? That was just before he won the triple crown in USAC. He had t-shirts with him and he autographed them for us. I might have mine somewhere, I know Skip has his.

Lots of great memories from there. Each time you went there was more and concrete around the track. At first it was just the drivers stand that had concrete under it. Leaving at 4am to get a spot by the door so you could rush in to get your pit spot. First time we went was for a race that was listed with a full page add in Comp Plus. We flew right by the gravel road twice. Finally turned and saw all the old barns and thought, OMG what are we going to be racing in. Wow were we surprised when we got there, very nice place.

That's pretty cool to know a couple of weeks ago, I raced at a track with such history on it! I really enjoyed running the silicone tires one last time. I hadn't ran a car on those since I was a kid. That being said, & for the best interest of car count for the track owners, putting a tire rule in place was a good idea. I look forward to making it back there sometime soon.

Shoot me a PM with some contact info, email, phone number, etc. I am having a hard time finding the info, I guess I am looking in the wrong places..
