Is there going to be any racing going on this weekend 12/27? I have missed the last few weekends.

Thanks,
Jimmy Skeeters

Yes we are racing on the 27th. Track opens @9am, Racing @1pm. Plan on racing pretty much every Sunday from here on out.

Sorry I haven't gotten the website updated, its been a busy week. I hope to have the schedule posted by tonight as well as results from the last few weeks.

It looks like we will probably do the 500 lapper in February, either Saturday the 13th or Sunday the 14th which is the weekend after the first of our two point series. We will probably have a driver's meeting Sunday to discuss this and try to settle on the date. The plan is to have two drivers per team, 500 laps with a break at halfway and each driver doing one of the 250 lap segments. The team driver will pit the car and swap the battery. You might be able to do each 250 lap segment on one pitstop, should be able to do it on 2 for sure.

I will post the complete rules and details on this race once we settle on the date and figure out exactly what the scoring software will allow.

We have been averaging 21 late models so far and it sounds like this Sunday should be our biggest turnout yet despite being a Holiday weekend!

question came up: will we need to use the same car for all 500 laps (i'm thinking yes) or can the software handle two transponders tied together (which would actually be pretty kewl if it could.

Yea the weather kept a lot of people away. We still had 18 people though.

Assuming the weather cooperates, we should have a packed house this week instead.

Where's the kewl turn by turn report of the previous Sunday's main events? We all watched for the report last year, now we demand it this year! Come on Chris. You can tell it like no one else. What does everyone say?! Do you want Chris' report again this year! Stand up and let him know!

Yes I will say yes after I get my car Faster, LOL I would like to see results, the only thing is this is Dirt Oval not Carpet because there’s nothing else to do close by. Anyone have a Brushless motor go bad on them yet? I am thinking mine is the cause of my slow down, new Trans parts/bearings and when I put the motor in it sounds like crap. Getting sick of giving you room to go around Jimmy. LOL:blueflag::blueflag::blueflag::blueflag:

Just remember, I need LOTS of room... :ha:

I've heard of some people trashing out their motors, but not me yet! I'm sure Allen can fix it under the Mendenhall warranty program.

Taking advice from that Fromme character would be a major reason for your "slow down" lol

A few guys this year have claimed they went faster after getting a new motor when they thought they lost some speed somewhere. I still doubt thats the issue, but its not impossible for one of these things to eventually lose some speed, especially if it consistantly runs hot. About the only way to find out for sure is to either borrow a motor you know runs fine, or get a new one.

I'll get the results and a small recap from last Sunday up tonight. The only website work I've had a chance to do this week was a page for the 500 lapper. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend so we can get enough people to show up and have a meeting to discuss this race. It works out in the schedule to have it on February 13th/14th weekend, and I am leaning towards the 13th which is Saturday to avoid both Valentines Day and the Daytona 500. The idea was to have an "off week" for points so we could hand out awards for the first point series and do the 500 lap race.

Thoughts?

as far as the 500 goes - that weekend sounds good to me. I'm a HUGE fan of Valentines Day and sometimes watch Daytona - or is that the other way around... Anyway, some questions that popped up:

Can one driver do the whole race with another being the Pit B the whole race?

I understand a ruling has been made as to running with two batts in the car - and that ruling is NO!

Will we run the same car - or change cars when / if we change drivers - and if two cars, can the computer system handle two transponders and will we have to switch out a house transponder to run in the second car?

Can we change drivers more than once if I can figure out a beneficial reason to do so? Like having two cars running so no battery change if the computer can handle the two transformer thing.

Will there be a mandatory 2 minute stop at some point like 250 laps to let the cars cool down and possibly change out tires.

If a wreck occurs and trashes the car, can a second car be substituted to finish the race.

If more than one car is allowed, can we simply change transponders rather than batteries and alternate cars.

Will the house transponders last for 500 laps

What have you found to be the optimal laps to battery ratio to change out for lost lap times due to battery fatigue

I'm estimating a total of 400 to 500 hard laps on my right rear, have you run a test 500 laps to check tire wear and should we expect to change out one or two tires to finish the race

I'm sure that we'll have more questions to come. This is unchartered territory for me. I've not done any kind of marathon run before. Thanks for the help.

Jimmy you have way to much time on your hands. Why don't you run a test run this weekend. Run the same Battery and tires for all four runs 50+ laps per run 200 laps and then we can see how things work out.
Now your thinking with that dip stick

Can one driver do the whole race with another being the Pit B the whole race?

No. Whoever does your pitstops must run the other segment. No hiring a professional pitcrew that can't drive. lol

Will we run the same car - or change cars when / if we change drivers - and if two cars, can the computer system handle two transponders and will we have to switch out a house transponder to run in the second car?

You can utilize 2 cars, but you have to use the same car during the segment. The only battery changing allowed will be physically swapping the battery in the same car. Each driver can use their own car if they want.

The new scoring software update is suppose to allow us to asign different transponders to the same team. However, we will require the team to use the same transponder throughout the entire race.

Can we change drivers more than once if I can figure out a beneficial reason to do so? Like having two cars running so no battery change if the computer can handle the two transformer thing.

No. The only driver change allowed will be during the break at halfway.

Will there be a mandatory 2 minute stop at some point like 250 laps to let the cars cool down and possibly change out tires.

The race will be paused at halfway for a 10 - 20 minute break. This should be enough time for everyone to switch drivers (and cars if needed) and get themselves collected for the 2nd half.

If a wreck occurs and trashes the car, can a second car be substituted to finish the race.

You can't change cars until halfway. If you break something you will have to fix it before you can get back into the race or wait until the 2nd half to run the 2nd car.

Will the house transponders last for 500 laps

They should be able to as long as they are charged up before used.

What have you found to be the optimal laps to battery ratio to change out for lost lap times due to battery fatigue

I don't think anyone knows that yet. It looks like you may be able to do a 250 lap segment on one pitstop. Whether it will be faster to do just one or two remains to be seen. There is also the risk of messing up the extra stop, even if pitting twice is faster. There will definitely be some strategy to it.

I'm estimating a total of 400 to 500 hard laps on my right rear, have you run a test 500 laps to check tire wear and should we expect to change out one or two tires to finish the race

500 laps is only slightly more than two race days on the tires. You should be able to do the whole thing on a set of tires assuming you start with tires that don't have a lot of laps on them already. Rotate the rears at halfway and you should be fine. With each team having two drivers you shouldn't have a problem coming up with enough tires to finish the race.

Once we nail down the date I will put up a page with the rules and the format.
