500 Laps!?

Sooooo, I'm over at allensrccars.com and see a teaser for an endurance race of 500 laps with two drivers to finish the race. And I said to myself - self, that would be keeewwwwllll... That would probably be one full set of tires, 7 or 8 batts, two drivers' nerves wracked out, a bottle of visine to get the red out, and a new pair of shorts after puckering for 500 laps while Allen is playing "Tag - you're IT" with the Green Machine!

Whose idea is this ?

So far the plan is to have two drivers per team, and split it into two 250 lap segments with each driver doing one segment. This way we don't have drivers running up and down the driver's stand when trying to swap drivers.

You'll have to pit at least once, probably two maybe three times per each 250 lap segment for a new battery, so your teammate will be doing your pitstop and swapping the battery.

Haven't really finalized any details beyond this point but this is the general idea so far. I think we may try to do it sometime January / February and if it goes well, maybe again at the end of the season in March / April with maybe a few laps added to it. We'll have a two classes, one for the Sportsman drivers and one for the "Expert" class.

So far it sounds like it has generated a lot of interest so it should be fun.

These are cool and fun races. We ran something like this 25 years ago after the regular season was over. Not much left in the equipment afterward.

The winners got turkeys or a cash prize because it was normally a week or so before Thanksgiving.

Anyone else have a rent a ride, or need a partner in this. That sounds like a blast.

I would love to get out of the house and race at one of those r/c tracks again.

Hell we have a blast every weekend. Don't need 500 laps for that :)

This should definitely be an interesting race. I will have to check on some schedule conflicts and then clear it with Allen, but I think we may try to do it sometime early to mid February which should be inbetween the two point series we will have. And if it goes well we will probably do it again in April at the end of the season... maybe even do more laps. :thumbsup:

I am sure there will be a few drivers searching for a teammate and I think there will be some empty cars floating around as well. Mouse and Cliff would be your first bet on the driver-less car... lol

I think Cliffy may have a John Deere for rent LOL. Hey Catcher you and the Midget best be practicing changing those batteries. With our new body changing ours will be a breeze. Best time so far 15 seconds.

Yea too bad nothing you can do to the body to make changing the battery faster would be legal. :blackflag: ;)

Besides... nothing is going to stop cliff from dropping his coat hanger body clip on the floor. :ha:
