This chassis is worth every penny!! I have been running it since it came out a it is definitely worth having. The good thing is that I just took the setup off my stock chassis and put it directly on this chassis and it worked awesome!! Those that may think that I am biased, take it for what it's worth, trust me, I wouldn't steer ya wrong:)

We sent the last one to www.amainhobbies.com (http://www.amainhobbies.com) today. They should have it on their site shortly. You could drop them an email and see if you can buy it.

We should have more back in stock on our site by about 12/15 or 12/16.

As soon as I have a firm date from the hardcoater I will post it.

How bad does the rear centershaft wear with that kind of rediculous angle? Would there be a way to flip the rear diff case, or swap with a front to straighten the center shaft back out? I have heard of the stock chassis being hard on front center shafts because of angle, can't imagine this being better.

I don't run the king headz chassis, but I do run an intruder chassis that is basically the same and it does wear the rear center shaft pretty good.I have been looking at running a front gearbox on the rear for a perfectly straight drivetrain. It is possible,it would just take some $pecial parts.

legends25
December 4th, 2009, 11:01 PM
The rear drive shaft is at a pretty good angle and we have been monitoring the heat and wear on the joint. As long as you do the regular maintenance on it such as keeping it greased and clean, the hottest I have seen mine is about 98 degrees. Just a little more info on it, the angle of the rear drive shaft is only 1 degree more than what the front Losi drive shaft is on the stock chassis.

Another little tid-bit is that the motor and center diff are turned 4 degrees to reduce the angle of the rear shaft and add a little to the front one. So the motor and diff are not setting straight in the car. Most of the other offset chassis just move the motor and diff housings straight over.

Jim will post some pictures tonight of what I am talking about.

I know what you are talking about;) Very nice by the way. Great seeing you at Indy. Get your deal handled?

It is very hard to tell from the picture of my car but the motor and diff are at a 4 degree angle. Here is a copy of the cad file showing that. This was done to help minimized the angle of the rear shaft. As Chris said with normal maintenance and grease the shafts are holding up very well.

The truggy tank is long and will hit the clutch bell and it is also tall. The OFNA tank is short, about the same as the stock tank.

I want to thank Jim and Chris for the great chassis kit. Got to run it last weekend and the car was awesome. It was sooo good, I overdrove the crap out of it. I was just amazed at how well the car drives and reacts to changes. Now, I just need to calm MYSELF down and it will be in the A whenever possible.;)

Thanks again and highly recommend this kit for your L8.

How far is everything Offset on the chassis?

KingHeadz
February 10th, 2010, 3:36 PM
We moved the center diff and motor over to the left about .95" and back about .47" then we rotated the motor and diff 5 degree to help minimize the angle of the rear drive shaft. Be rotating the diff and motor it puts the angle of the rear shaft about the same as the stock front shaft.

After assembling my car with the new chassis, I have found the the factory throttle linkage is to still to short. I moved the locking sleeve on the outer end all the way out till it is flush with the end of the linkage & and if I turn the ball cup out enough to snap on the carb, it doesn't have but a 2 or 3 thread engagement on the linkage. I was just wondering if anyone had had this problem before, and if so how was it resolved? I was thinking, I may need have to go to the hobby shop and see if I can find a linkage rod from another car that may be longer.

the dynomite kit will cure your problem, the arms are much longer.

After a quick trip to the hobby shop this morning, I found that one of the linkages in the LST break and throttle linkage kit fit the bill perfectly. Just cut off the z bend at the red line in the pic, and your ready to go. I'm figuring that me running a 17 tooth clutch bell, is the reason I have run into this problem.

What kind of setups is everyone starting out with for a rubber tire car? I ran the car for the first time this weekend (high bite track with 320 drive line, and 20 degrees of banking), with close to an out of the box setup , plus kingheadz spool, and the car pushed like crazy going in, (slight coming out) when the day started out, but got slightly better as the night went on and with a slight spring change.

Will need more info before we can help you. What tires? What type of surface? What springs and shock oil are you using? Sway bars? What is the ride height front to back? and what type of body, side dam, rear spoiler size?
Also how much toe out on the front? The rear?

PM me.

Ralph

That looks like a hell of a chassis. I have tried the losi lefty in the past and kinda got away from it but might have to give this one a try now. Will the drive shaft still fit or do they need to be longer and how much more of an angle will they have one them?

They actually run the stock drive shafts, you just switch the front to the rear and rear to front, the overall angle on both shafts isn't more than 1deg or so from the front shaft on a stock buggy chassis. I run this lefty chassis with the adjustable caster blocks and the adjustable toe rear ap-arms and my car is wicked fast on both high bite clay and looser red clay tracks, even ran on a paved oval and it was even better. The biggest deal with these chassis seems to be runnin positive camber in the right side tires to keep from burninng up the inner edge of the DLM2 tires. I know it sounds odd, but thats where I ended up, ran a 15 minute main on paved oval and barely wore a set of DLM2 tires!

ONE THING THAT YOU MUST CHANGE IF YOU ARE USING A 2.0 BUGGY IS THE REAR CENTER DRIVESHAFT THE 2.0 IS 2MM LONGER THAN THE 1.0 WHICH IS WHAT THE lOSI L8 CHASSIS IS BASED ON
