View Full Version : Getting Close - Parking - Rules - Stuff

As we get closer to this event - and I get everything into place I wanted to throw some info and rules out for everyone.
I am banking on the fact that you all realize how tight things will be and I am asking for your cooperation.
To start with I am planning on Providing a shuttle parking service.
This may or may not be necessary based on how many people car pool from the hotels and how close you park to each other.
Please leave only as much room as necessary between you and the car next to you to get the doors open - that means you must park in line - do not leave an empty space between you and the car you park next too - because you probably just left too little room or too much room for someone to fit in.
So park as close as you can to the car next to you when you come in and don't leave empty space. If 5 of you leave an extra foot on each side we have just lost 1 spot - multiply that time 200 cars and I think you can see we just gave up 40 parking spots.
The shuttle parking area will be approximately 1 mile up the road and I will provide more info on this later.
Do not park in the handicapped spots or the reserved spots for the bumps employees - (who have to constantly run for food and materials) one of these is also for my suburban which will be the shuttle car.
Do not park in the no parking area's they are there to provide access to the parking spots and to allow the shuttle car to make a loop without backing up. (my wife will be one of the people in the suburban - you don't want her backing that thing up)
I have provided a pdf drawing of the grounds so you can all become comfortable with the land before you get here.
http://www.bumpsandjumpsrc.com/bumpsparking Model.pdf (http://www.bumpsandjumpsrc.com/bumpsparking%20Model.pdf)
Please notice at the end of the parking there is a well pipe - it will be marked with cones and caution tape - it also sticks up out of the ground 2' - please don't hit it or we will be without water for the week.
There will be snow fence and caution tape marked at all the property lines - do not drive across or around them. The township will also have cones on the back sewer plant access road - anyone who crosses them will simply have there car towed. There will be no notice. There is a sign at the beginning of the road that says no trespassing.
The building will have the floor marked off with yellow and black striped tape, the area inside this space must be kept clear at all times. This is the path of egress and if the fire marshal were to stop in and this area is not clear there will be problems - I do not want any problems so if I ask you to move your stuff please cooperate.
The last thing I ask is that you please do not put anything sticky on the tables or the walls - I spent a tremendous amount of time painting the interior of the building so please keep your strapping tape, stickers, and wheel dot centers in the trash not on the pit benches. Speaking of which - I will supply everyone who asks a personal trash bag to keep at your pit. Please keep the trash off the floor, I will try to keep the building as clean as possible for the week.
Now that - that is all out of the way I want to thank everyone again for coming out.
I have heard in the past people say that it is great that I have the track for the racers, but in all reality it is you the racers that make it possible for me to survive doing this - and for that I am truly grateful, so thank you all for making it possible to do what makes me happy!

Chris,
I would like to publicly thank you for having such a great place for us to come race at on a weekly basis. I really appreciate the efforts you put into your building in preparation of hosting the USOW. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished in a fairly short amount of time!
I would also like to thank you for agreeing to host the USOW. This race deserves to be held at the best indoor facility in the US, now it is! The racers that have not yet been to your place will head home after the open wheel thinking to themselves, those PA guys don't have a clue how good they have it there with Bumps to go to every week, Fact is we do know how spoiled we are and it does not go unnoticed.

I think it would be a good idea to have spots for people or families that stop in to watch who may not know about the shuttle service or have kids and cant use the shuttle service.

I think that you were up a couple weeks ago buying parts to get back into racing, so i am sure it will be fine to stop in. But make sure you follow the directions Chris Posts. Parking in the wrong spot next to the track will cause problems.

Guys, the shuttle service is going to work fine. Chris has worked very hard to come up with a game plan that should be very simple if everyone chooses to cooperate. As I have said before this will be the Largest RC Dirt Oval event ever held anywhere and If you want to be a part of it than a little cooperation from everyone can go a long way to help make it the best and most fun event as well.
If you are not or can not carpool it would help a lot if you could meet another racer or racers at the shuttle lot and ride in together from there. If you are carpooling and the lot gets full you can still drop off your passengers at the door, Let the shuttle driver know you are heading to the lot and they will follow you up and bring you back. The lot is less than a mile from the track and the whole process should take less than 3 minutes.
If the lot gets full you can assume that the shuttle will be making some continuous runs throughout the day. And will be available at any time if someone needs to be taken back to their vehicle in the shuttle lot.
As far as spectators go please keep in mind that with more than 220 people attending this event the building is going to be pretty full as well. We certainly dont want to discourage people from taking an interest in racing or this event but at the same time making concessions for them when the space is already limited will not likely happen either.
Thanks,
Rob

With the limited parking space, we are leaving the 'Pig Rig' home. I'm not sure the observation deck is large enough to land a copter anyhow.
Besides, Blum hasn't installed the chrome poles yet for the off season. :p :o ;)

Just a reminder please take a look at the parking diagram
http://www.bumpsandjumpsrc.com/bumpsparking Model.pdf (http://www.bumpsandjumpsrc.com/bumpsparking%20Model.pdf)
I will keep the entire area that is on the right on the map open for cars (even though it says motor homes and travel trailers) and park campers in the area labeled double parked cars only. This will prevent anyone from being parked in.
When you come into the property there is plenty of parking on the left. It is clearly marked with stakes, ribbon and cones - please do not run over the traffic cones - there is 1/2" rebar through the middle of them holding up the ribbon. A trailer found out today that it is not good to run over them. I just don't want any else to have the same fate as he did.
You can drop your stuff at the door and then go park as the next car in line as close as possible.
See you all in 2 to 3 days!
Bigben

where is the location for overflow parking? or are we supposed to try to park at the main parking area first and see if there is parking?
