On the right side panel are you aloud two braces? I have always had two because it needs the support. I think the rule states one but that doesn't make sence because it is the same length as the left panel.

Only 1 brace allowed. I had two on last year and had to remove one of them.

Two braces are required from top of the center foil to the left sideboard and one brace is permitted below the center foil to the right side board

One brace is permitted most don't brace the right side

I want to know why you cant have two. It is only used to help keep the side panel straight and to keep the center section from cracking.

The reason is simple...it's in the rules. :D

Wings: Center section and side panels must be made from at least 3 separate pieces of polycarbonate, carbon or aluminum material. All corners and edges must be rounded and free of sharp edges. Main and Front wings must be mounted so that they are centered on cage, no offset wings. Wing center sections must have all 4 corners set at 90 degree angles, no canted or angled panels. Wings must also be mounted level from side to side. Center section of wing may not extend beyond leading or trailing edge of side panels. Side panels must have braces that hold side panel rigid at 90deg. to center section during race conditions. Two braces are required from top of the center foil to the left sideboard and one brace is permitted below the center foil to the right side board. Braces can be a maximum of .750" wide and front edge of front brace must be no more than 1.5” back from side panel leading edge. Side Panels may have front, back, top and bottom turnouts of no more than .375" and are included in max dimension. Flat foil center sections will be allowed a .250” turndown at the leading edge.

Curtis, doesn't really matter....he isn't getting it anyways. The rules have been this way for a year and ENFORCED this way at last years OW race....They just won't magically get changed now. Sorry

How large can the front bumper/valance be on a 13.5 sprint?

I make mine the same width of the cage, and they have never been deemed improper or illegal.

You can only 1 (one) support brace on the right side panel. You may have 2 (two) support braces on the left side panel but the front one must be 1 1/2" back from the front of the side panel.

Thanks for the info, but that didn't really answer my question. Is it ok to have no braces on the right side panel?

I would say that the answer is YES...you can run without a support brace on the right side panel.

Is that from the center of the mounting hole to the front part of the side board, or is it from the front edge of the brace itself, to the front of the side board???

From the FRONT EDGE of the side board to the FRONT EDGE of the brace. Look at the diagram (http://www.dirtoval.com/rules/6x6sprintwing.pdf)...there is a link to it in the rules. (http://www.dirtoval.com/rules/index.html)
