View Full Version : Entry Information Now Available
Custom Works RC
September 24th, 2009, 1:40 PM
Entry information as well as all of the other pertinent information has now been updated on the Race website. You can visit the race website at www.USOpenWheelChamps.com (http://www.USOpenWheelChamps.com). Please be sure to read over all of the pages thoroughly including the Entry Form and the rules page. There are some definitive changes in a few areas this year and it is important that everyone reads and understands all of aspects of what is different for this year including the sign up procedure.
If you have any general or procedural questions please post them here so that they can be answered for everyones benefit. As I said please be sure to READ EVERYTHING before posting any questions.
Obviously the anticipation for this years event is high and it is very likely that some people may not be able to participate this year due to the limited number of entries being accepted. We hope that everyone understands that it is just a product of the time and space available and while we are happy that this race has continued to enjoy a large number of entries each year, that number must be kept within an acceptable range to help insure the quality of the event for those who do get to attend.
Looking forward to a great race this year!
Thanks,
Rob Cutman

Since I have had this question quite a bit I thought I would post the answer here, along with Rob's post.
We have 160 indoor pit spots - we will cut off entries at 160 indoor people.
Plus all those in trailers outside.
Based on really fuzzy math assume there are 20 trailers (there will probably be more) each with two racers in them.
160+40=200
200 people times two classes = 400 entries
I am truly hoping that we don't have to turn people away, and will do everything I can to accommodate everyone.
I can not stress enough how much it will help to use rcsignup.com (http://www.rcsignup.com/) - if you do not have a computer (I am not sure how you are reading this) please ask someone to sign up for you.
I will be the only one taking phone calls, so if you must call please have all your info ready, in other words please do not say hold on I have to run to the basement for the transponder number. Thanks you all for your cooperation. I can't wait till you all see the improvements we have made - Come on December!
Sincerely,
Chris

Don't tell me you fixed the half pit space upstairs with the 2x4 in the middle of it? I have a pit towel perfectly cut out for that spot!
j/k - I can't wait to get over and check it out...I've heard lots of good stuff.

Lauden, if like last year, most likely around noon starting with the 13.5 cars. Should be about 30-40 cars in each of those classes, or there abouts. Of coarse that's a guess but that's how they did it last year. That was last year.

Actually last year we had a drivers meeting and than started a practice round thursday evening around 4:00.
Can you tell me what time the round on thursday will start ? was hoping qualifying would not start till Friday:eek:
Schedule is not defined yet and will depend on the entry total but the plan would be to have a drivers meeting and 1st round of qualifying and start so that we would be done sometime around 9 or 10 . My guess is that would require a start time of approx 3-4pm for the 1st round. Part of our thought process with going with 1 round thursday is that we now dont have to run 2 rounds friday so we can allow more actual entries. We will be limited by pit spaces most likely but there will be no entry limit per person or overall for the event. Chances are we could still see 400-450 entries which would be 60-65 heats.
The good news is if you can not get there till Friday you will likely have at least 2 practice rounds prior to the beginning of the second round on Friday. You will than have 2 rounds to get 1 good run in under this new qualifying format. Than there are always the bump ups too. I think this will much better suit guys who may not be able to arrive till later in the week.

Bumps has power to supply with little trouble, but with this many entries you may want to bring a generator, if you have one. some folks do bring generators.

you will definitely need a generator
I only have 4 or 5 20 amp breakers for the trailer's and they are parked at least 60' away from them.

That is based on entries not the people. I know that they are limiting people more then entries. I just talked with Chris and he said not to panic if you are not in. There will be more spots available as soon as they figure out how many people are signed up and are pitting inside.

I have to manually update that each of you are paid
I will work on that tomorrow
I also see two small glitch's
as you all know we limited the entries on rcsignup to try and make it fair for the people who do not have net access.
well I had bobby from rcsignup add the question about pitting in a trailer or inside
the problem is I can't see that information
I will have to have him clear it up - hopefully soon and I will be able to add more available inside spots on rcsignup.
Unfortunately there was not a way to limit total people count on rcsignup and based on past numbers it is about 2 entries per person.
So it requires some manipulation.
Please don't think because you are not in that you will not get in - I think there are a lot of spots left inside. Also we left approximately 30 spots for phone in on Monday morning - at 9:00am.
Also based on the spots being filled up it won't allow people in trailers to sign up.
Didn't think about that one.
I am still at bumps painting and plan to leave soon - it's about 30 minutes to get home, and I will check on here to answer questions when I get home.
Thanks
Chris

I have created another entry form for people who are pitting outside in a trailer.
This will eliminate the full status if you are pitting outside.
Why didn't I do this from the start?
Please understand this is only for people pitting outside in a trailer - a spot will not be reserved for you if you enter in the trailer entry only form on rcsignup.

Wow, 170 in 20 minutes. Last year I was on the phone for 10 straight hours to get to 170. Im digging this RC Signup. As Chris mentioned there are still plenty of pit spots available. For phone ins and some more may be made available on here when he gets the data updated.

Hey Chris...if you look at the entry list for each class...and click on the name of one of the racers entered...it will take you to that person's profile...which will show you which classes he is signed up for...and will also show if they are pitting inside or outside. Hopefully there is an easier way for you to get that info...but if not...at least you can find out where people are pitting.
