Hey guys I work at Rc-international speedways (RCIS) in Green Cove Springs. we have 3 tracks now. Offroad Onroad and oval and looking into building a dirt oval. looking to see if there would be any interest for this. track would be big. outside dimensions of 156x60 with some banking.

so any input?

Dave, there were some guys running in west volusia county. Don't know what they were racing but I dont think they are racing anymore. the guys in daytona were talking about some dirt oval at one point but i dont think there was anything there. and the rest you have probably raced with at one of the concrete or asphalt tracks. maybe they will chime in.

hey dave... forgive my ignorance... where is green cove springs?

as for building the track.. the more the merrier, good quality tracks are always welcome. i would only issue one word of caution, there is no harder/more labor intensive rc track to maintain than an outdoor dirt oval, w/ that being said if the folks interested in running it are up to the task... go for it.

thanks for the input guys. if we build a dirt track it will more than likely be a big track. but the corners will be tight to give it that bullring feel.

Just to bring this back to the top. The track has been built. 6 degree banked corners and I think a 275' drive line. THE FAST GUYS are running mid 8 second laps. Its a nice track, with an even better facility. We have been running Dirt oval on Friday nights but I think an actual schedule is being put together now.

Well whatever the run line is, its big, fast, and lots of fun.
Its only been up and running for about 4 weeks now so I'm sure with a little more exposure the chances of someone who is someone from FDOS noticing the track will grow. The ROAR region 4 race is being held at RCIS. Big races are perfect for this place.

So is this a loose dirt track, and what are the rules?

what classes are they running and/or planning to run that fdos runs? are they planning to keep it loose/sandy like in the video?

Right now to get things started we have been running
-1/8 DLM nitro and elec.
-1/10 short course late model open
- SC open and SC spec to match the rules set up for our Short course series
- 1/10 edm electric but I'm sure they would welcome nitro.
...and as always 3 of a kind makes a class.

as of yet no official rules have been decided on but we are using the rules posted at Dirtoval.com as a guide.

Rubber tires are working very nicely right now and the track is still coming in ( it grooves up a little near the end of the night.) so I guess you could say its a loose track but it is hard packed.

Man, I hope you keep it like that. I will have to come down and race soon. I love the loose rubber tire tracks!

Can't wait to meet you.

Dirt oval changed my mind set on RC racing. I was about to shelve everything and then they built the oval.

Brings back lots of memories.

But I digress. This Friday we won't be racing the oval but Saturday after the Short course series race we will be doing an impromptu Dirt oval race.

who owns/runs the track?

Phil and Kim Nicholas are the owners. Good people. The tracks (Offroad, Asphalt Oval, and Dirt Oval) have been open for just one year. The dirt oval is the latest addition. They have put a lot of work into the place and it shows.

the track is only going to get smoother. there are a couple pro cars they do good. everyone here is new to dirt oval so we are all learning. like to see some veterans come show us how its done. besides its dirt not concrete so there is nothing wrong with a few challenging bumps!
