There are quite a few companies that make them, I personally run the Hyperdrive, and I'd say 99% of the other people at Maryville run custom works. Best bet would be to come to the track and look around, and talk to a few guys an see what they like/don't like about the cars. Will this be your first dirt oval car? Have you raced before?

It will be my first actual oval car. i was up at the track last night with a nitro rustler. And i would b willing to look into used stuff also. IM 19 years old and tryin to keep the budget down as much as possible.

Sprint cars would not be the class to begin with. They look like fun, but they are hard to drive and require a lot of maintenance and setup to keep them going. If i were you i would look closer at the MDM class. Its a better starting class than the sprints. It requires a 2wd buggy chassis, and a modified body that can be bought from one of the local racers. Your not allowed to change a whole lot to the buggy, so it keeps the chassis real close to each other. Only thing your allowed to change is the setup itself (springs, shock oil, camber,etc..) You are allowed a maximum of a 7.5 novak or a 5700 mamba system.

Also there is nothing cheap about the sprint car class, even a used ride will cost you in the $400 range. Plus you'll have to buy batteries and a charger to go with that. So you'll be lookin at spending close to $600 to get into a used sprint car.

if you think you might like to run a sprint car then go for it. they are a little harder to drive but, once you get the hang of it, you will be able to drive almost anything.

first i would recommend the CUSTOM WORKS OUTLAW SPRINT for many reasons. with a street price of around $300 new, it one of the best buys around. obviously if it is that cheap new, used ones would fall in even lower than that. my nephew and I have run the outlaws on almost every surface with much success. my nephew still runs his box stock and is always in the A mains where ever he goes. the outlaw will run on loose tracks (rubber pin tires), packed clay (foam tires) and even carpet or asphalt with little adjustments.

some of the other companies that offer sprint kits or conversions but are generally more expensive..

Putnam
Hyper Drive / Havoc
JRC
Dynotech
Cobra

just off the top of my head

He is right, the outlaw is a great first sprint car. And at out track (buggy tires) they seem to be the most used car. One thing, if you decide to race the class and buy one, Do not be afraid to go up to people and ask for help. There are quite a few of us there (myself included) who have no problem helping out anybody at the track. Most the people that pit around me can vouch for that. I usually have my hands in others car more than my own.

Don't let me get you down on running one, if its what you want go for it. But there are cheaper alternatives that are just as fun to drive, and you would be driving with people more towards a new guys skill level.

I would suggest starting in the MDM class from experience. This is my first year of racing oval, and I started out racing mini's and have moved up to the MDM class about half way through the summer. Running the class and with the help of other people starting to learn things about the car has helped me a ton! The class is very fun and as matt said it is a cheaper class to get into until you get used to driving and setting up the cars. I plan on running the MDM class again next year as well:thumbsup: Just my opinion though..if you want a sprint go for it:thumbsup:

I would probably let my MDM go, since I have only raced once this season. Give me a call at 618-917-6042.

That is the Kyosho RB5 with the Smaconversion that now uses standard rotation motors thanks to some tranny machining from Jay Landolt!
