I am going to get back into electric racing. I have never done the dirt oval thing. What class should i start in? I want someting not to expensive to get into and be competative. I am thinking the losi mini late model? Does that class have a lot of cars in it on a regular night?

Also I have no idea where the track is at or when to check it out. Any help would be great. thanks

MDM would be good because when winter comes you can turn it back to offroad and keep on racing:D

If you want a mini late model I can make you a deal on one $50 it is a fixer uper but overall good shape. no radio but the stock one is junk anyway.

The mini latemodel is a great place to start racing dirt oval. You can check out the local hobby shops & buy a new one for about $230,(includes a Spektrum Transmitter too) or many people in the area have good used ones for sale that have some upgrades on them already for around $100. The cars adapt well to dirt oval as well as carpet oval with a change of tires, the bumpstops, a couple of turns here & there on the coil overs & your pretty well set. You will need to buy a power supply/charger & some extra battery packs,(Duratrax 1600mah). Good, cheap oval racing fun. :greenflag: Oh yea, the track is located accross frm Purcell Tire on hwy.94, about 1 mile east o hwy 370, in same strip plaza as Blimpe subs. Racing on wed.night & sunday afternoon.

Check the local sale thread on smac & maryville forums for good used equipment that you can actually see with your own eyes,(sometimes pictures hide alot).

A MDM is a production buggy such as an Associated B4, with a "Mouse Built" modified body. The complete set of rules are displayed on the Maryville forum.

what is MDM?

MDM stands for "Midwest Dirt Modified". You basically take an offroad buggy (normally Associated B4's) and put a modified dirt car body on them....thus making them an oval car. There are some tweaks you can make, but it's pretty much ready to go racing after that. Here is what minelooks like -

As Cmain was saying, you can use this car for dirt oval now, and then change it back to an off-road buggy when it's offroad season! :tire: These cars are alot of fun to race.

edit - Damnit Jim you just beat me!

Just so you know there is more people showing up with late models then MDM. Also late models are a cash race with as long as 5 people show up

I started out running the Mini Latemodels and they are actuallly alot of fun and are quicker than I first thought they would be..I had never drove an rc car before and it took some getting used to and knowing what to do to make them handle better but once i figured them out then I moved up to MDM here recently and found it to be easier to control than the mini..so I believe driving the minis is good for getting oval experience. I still drive my mini too because its alot of fun...we always seem to have a blast and the more minis we have out there at once the more fun it is! Here are some pics of my cars...also I added a pic of the track
