Wow, worst news I have heard all day.......the only foam tire track around......now who wants and EDM? It's brand new.....body came in today too.......hopefully that will help with attendance but there is 4-5 loose dirt tracks in the area now.......what day/days will you be running? Wednesday is Allens, Thursday and Saturday is Maryville. You going back to Wednesday and Sunday? I hope to make it the 3rd. Can you say 52?

I liked the hard packed clay for something different once in a while but you gotta love the loose dirt! It feels more like real dirt oval racing! I think its a great idea:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I have had a couple of questions about the surface prep. I will be tilling the track with the mini "bobcat" tiller the way that I did while changing over from the off road. I will also drag it for a while with the 8' long drag to get rid of the waves like I did with the packed track. The difference will be in the amount and type of packing that I will do.
I will use the golf cart with slicks again, but I will pack it only for a short amount of time without watering during the packing.

I bought a large fan for the pit area and I am gonna pick up a couple of other fans for the drivers stand this week. The loose dirt will also allow for more airflow by opening up the track garage door without worrying about drying out the wet/hard packed surface.
Just cutting down on the amount of water that is poured into that surface should reduce the humidity in the building. I have been soaking that track into puddles almost every day since the oval was built and I should be able to only hit it on race days now.

The track is just about ready thanks to alot of help from Jay Landolt and Phillip VanBooven. I know that it is just an oval, but there were some major changes made today besides the loose dirt.
With the hope of creating two racing lines, we desided to build up a steep banking that begins approx 5' off of the inside edge of the turn. This will allow a high line with banking and an almost flat inside line. It should also allow for more room to make passes or to move over without taking yourself out of the racing line.
See ya Wednesday!

The track setup sounds very cool. I have a job interview @ 5 on Weds, but I'm going to be heading to the track asap when it's over. I may miss the first qualifier though. I'll give someone a call.
