View Full Version : Big Bill's 3rd Annual $$$ Race!

OK for everyone that missed the best race of last year......it's almost time again.....
BIG BILL'S 3rd Annual $$$ Race August 7-8th
Last year we had 142 entries I believe and we will have close to 200 this year. We had drivers from about 9-10 different states and some close racing action.
For everyone who don't know or have never been to Big Bill's......you can get more info at www.bigbillsrcraceway.com (http://www.bigbillsrcraceway.com) or check back here often.
Bill's track is an outdoor, fast clay track, using mini-pin tires for 1/10th scale and foam or rubber tires for the 1/8th LM's. The run line is 250' but the top groove is 315+ and the total bottom is 220'. Racing lanes are aprox 18-20' wide, so plenty of room for racing your buddy for bragging rights.
The biggest class last year was electric sprint with like 52 entries, next was 1/8th LM close with 35-40? We also had a good turn out of nitro trucks and nitro sprints.
Classes for this years race will be:
Electric Sprint
Nitro Sprint
13.5 LM's
Nitro Truck
1/8th LM (rules soon to follow)
Bombers (ONS Rules)
I know a lot of guys who couldn't make it last year cause it was the same weekend as the Knoxville Nats......Not this year.....and I know a bunch of guys I raced with this winter are talking about making the trip......guys from Iowa and Minnesota....
Lets make this years race the best one! We are inviting last years champs back to defend their titles. Last years winners get free entry into the class/classes they won last year.
We are expecting most, if not all, the sponsors who helped us last year to come back. We had a lot of door prizes and gave out over $2100 in CASH! Saweet! I think last years big winner took home about $350.....right Chad?
I will start an entry list in a couple days.
I Hope everyone is getting fired up for this one.......tell the Boss you can't miss this race......"she" will understand, lol.
See everyone soon.
P.S. I am also working on an announcer for the whole weekend! (update June 17th....he can't make it) so we will go another direction.....still gonna be fun..!
P.S.S. Race Flyer........I think its posted on Bill's site.

Jason Abernathy, 13.5 LM
These drivers are automatically entered in this years race for FREE, (in the class/classes won)! WooHoo

Nice to hear about the gratis entry for this year.
I'll be there with my twin engined 1/8 car, hopefully it will be accepted better than last years entry......

The last 2 years we ran the club race friday night but as this race grows, we might have to drop the club race and trade it for a qualifer for the big show.....
We are also gonna have the ONS running with us this year too so I look for entries to climb fairly high.......maybe close to 200?
If you think you can make it, please let me know so I can add your name to the entry list. That will give Bill and others an idea who and when they will be racing.
Thanks Chris

The format is looking like practice on friday and depending on the amount of entries.....we may run 1 qualifer on friday night and 2 more saturday......then its dashes and mains on sunday.

Eugene, I'm sure this has been asked somewhere before, but for the 13.5LM class, do we have to run the DODC motor and battery? Just want to clarify before i make some plans. Hoping to make it again this year, last year was a blast even though i missed the first day. 13.5LM and Elec Sprint for me.

if you are running latemodel and it runs like it did in ripley then should just give you an automatic A main starting spot.
add Mike veith for elec sprint and Alex Veith for 13.5 latemodel

When are you going to have the rules for the 1/8 scale decided.
is it going to foam or rubber?
is it going to be w/sidedamns or w/out sidedamns?
Are you going to have a motor restrictions?
Just wondering since the ONS is going to be there the same time. Last yr we had both classes running, and the rubber tire cars could run both class.

The rules are gonna be posted this week.....but as in years past, we will not split up the 1/8th LM's. The rules are basically the same as last year in open......OFNA or Losi spec tires or foams, Molded bodies only (no wedge style) side dams ok, engines up to .28, Smart, Active, Torsen diffs ok, One-Ways ok.......
All this year we have seen every style car (1/8 LM) run and I have not seen any car/part have an advantage. I ripped the side dam off my car JUST to try and free it up on Losi tires! So for all the guys who are hesitant about being able to keep up without foams or side dam.....relax....the track record has been broken twice this year and both cars had rubber tires, one with side dam and one without. I was the first to go 39 laps and I was running a Losi out of the BOX! I had RC4Less springs and A+ body and Losi spec tires geared 48/17. Then Chad had to run a second faster a couple weeks later but......any combo is fast here....
Who else? Can we see 55-60 LM's?

We are going to try to do it all friday and saturday. That way everyone can be home by sunday afternoon. We did that to help with anyone who was coming from Tx, Ok, Oh or Pa. I heard some talk of a couple guys wanting to make the trip from Cali......that'd be a drive huh?
Right now we plan on running single lap qualifiers and one round of heats friday evening, then the rest of the show saturday. Sunday would only be used for a mother nature day.....if you know what Im talking about. LOL

I hope you can make it.....definately not one to miss. Most guys are running either a 6.5 or 7.5 motor in the sprint class......A 5.5 might be a bit much at times.......I personally like the 6.5 the best. If you need help getting it around the track when you get it, come on down, we have a lot of fast guys here running the Outlaw that'll help.

We can run them at our weekly races but I don't think it will happen at the $$$ race. I know they will be much faster than nitro cars when someone figures how to hook it up.
Not to mention it is a ONS series race also. ONS, Outlaw NITRO Series

I'll start it off,
Electric Sprint........Fisher, If we can get him here...
Nitro Sprint...........Corns, Malicoat was leading till the outside wall took the ride side off!
Trucks/EDM..........Butts, unless 13 yr old Coale Dolbert can keep it together.
13.5 LM................Malicoat, aaaaaa cherry picker....LOL
Bomber...............Brucker, School Bus will be hooked up!
1/8th LM..............Dibbs, I would have picked Garcia, but I haven't seen him start a main yet!

What happened to the poll? Did someone finally make an executive decision on what the schedule is going to be for the weekend?
The Poll gave us an idea what most wanted......turned out it was 50/50 so that left it up to the track owner........Schedule to follow soon.......I think most people that are planning on coming are signed up now.........Looks like 90-96 electric sprints, 70-72 1/8th LM's. and 32-36 nitro sprints. So I will work on the schedule with Bill tomorrow and I will post the new one then......
Thanks for everyone's patience, having a better turn out than expected.......We were hoping for 170-180 and look what happened, LOL I'm not complaining, just saying....

About what gearing are you guys running?
If I was going to race nitro sprint.....I'd bring Pro-line or Losi rib fronts and Inside Jobs for rears......DD, JConcept tires are also working good when the track slicks off a little. Holeshots are always safe too........Inside Jobs will be the tire I'm sure.....

Is it possible to get a decision on the Saturday schedule? We are just trying to figure out if we need to get a hotel room for Saturday. Can you put it to a vote on here and possibly make a decision, so we can figure out if we need a hotel room on Saturday night as well. Just checking. It seems like most of the racers that are planning on coming could just cast their vote on here instead of waiting until Friday night. Just trying to plan ahead.
Thanks

Dropped the tents off tonight.
Bill has the grass striped off in the pit area to keep the tent set-up organiized. I don't think it will be a problem fitting everyone in.
BTW: The track looked fast.

I doubt you will need a blanket......heat index or 105.....we have spots for more than 80 ezups and 20+ trailers.......don't worry you will be fine.....

I painted lines in the pit area and we ask that you try to stay within those lines......the spaces are 10x12 so almost all ezups will fit......Bill will also be there to answer any questions......
OK 4 hrs sleep and I will be good to go.....
