Rob,
Does the DODC have a stance on the legality of gyros on the steering axis?
I've heard some rumblings that guys may be using these (to great advantage) in an outdoor, loose track situation.
I believe that ROAR outlawed gyros as soon as they hit the scene but I couldn't find mention of it in the DODC rules.

your correct roar outlawed them as soon as they came out and if they are legal in according to dodc rules this should be addressed

that's pathetic......if find i am getting beat by someone so insecure and needing to win so badly by using one i will announce it on the stand and spend the next 4 mins on a "seek and destroy mix fest"!

And it's not just a Gyro. Hpi make a a little box, called a drift box maybe people should watch for. It does the same thing as a Gyro..

I thought that is what he meant. The HPI box makes corrections for countersteering.

The hpi drift box:

is just a futaba gyro:

with a different sticker and a bigger markup
would be fun to play with, but should only be used for racing against rj14 ;)

i think a gyro was used at little-o a few years back and was immediately outlawed.

I think you will find that the tracks will pretty much police this. If not I will with my bumper.

Gyros, Drift Boxes and anything like that are not legal and are covered under this sentence in the rules:
If an item is not addressed in the rules listed here than you should assume it is not legal.

Some of the newer Heli gyro's are pretty compact and harder to spot. Some no bigger than a starburst sized candy. Unlike the older ones they can be mounted in almost any orientation as well and look a lot like the telemetry stuff many use on their cars these days.... Very bad for the sport in reguards to cheating...:blackflag: i must admit some of the radio features out there help out drivers as well just not as obviously as a gyro...(And not to as great effect either.)

That doesn't look very good. I think some of that meat may have been pre-chewed.
