Here we go! Another year already and once again it's colder by 20 degrees in May that it was in April when we were getting the track ready.

Monday Nights
Tuesday Night Rain Date (Sorry just too must scoring equipemtn to move between the locatoins)

Track Opens approximately at 5:00 pm
Every Monday night with the exception of May 25 (Memorial Day) through August 31) Then special events

First Heat 7:00 pm Rookie classes are always first, EDM Big Block Last.
First Car $10, second car $5 (Junior <12 years old $5)

Tonight starts our 31st year of racing, pretty amazing:trophy_bronze:

Although it seems like the same ole thing, there are plenty of new things as well. This is year one under the new DODC rules package designed to keep competition even better than before with the consistency of the motor and battery leaving the set-up and driving skill to be the larger contributors to who visits victory lane. Although it's never been easy to repeat at the Competition oval, with the combination of inverted starts and National Champion talent, its going to be even tougher this year. And if last weeks mains are any indication of how close the racing is going to be the race announcer is in for a real treat, as are you drivers and the fans.

If you have not heard of, or are not ready to make the switch to DODC don't fret, and more importantly don't stay away. We have either a class or rules package that will let you race!

Hey Gang
Below are the results minus the SB-A (Sorry) I was a late mixer for Team Hauenstein and didn't give the gang in the castle all the steps necessary for the re-start; as a result the Computer still thinks we haven't run that race.

Congrats to all the winners and it was really great to have such a wonderful group on a night that wasn't supposed to be weather friendly.

Drivers of the Week:
Bob G the TQ Shocker in the BB class

Nolan K This Sportsman Rookie drives with a lot of control and is looking to move up to the most challenging SB class in the dirt racing world.

Tough Luck Award:
Dave Peek Breaks in round 1 which was by far the fastest the track was all night, qualifies 9th, 1 position shy of the show and the pole, and runs the fastest BB main of the night

Please don't get down on the track surface. Jerry is doing one heck of a job and we have had the worst weather cycles making it very difficult tot get water deep enough into the clay. Plus we had a drying wind eac hnight so far, and I could not delay th eprogram between rounds for watering as we knew the rain was imminent. This weeks overcast, humid, and rainy ocnditions will help a lot!!

Well try as she did Mother Nature put a soaking on us from 6:00 to 7:20, but with everyone's help and the Rupert trick of 120 pounds of kittly litter the track was race ready by 8:15; and should I mention fast!!!

10 Heats, two rounds, and 8 mains; done at 11:35; you guys were absolutely great at being ready and on time. We only went over the 90 second limit twice and tat was for another 30 seconds. we ran both heat rounds in 58 minutes.

Congrats to the winners, new comers (JR Barns) and Nolan K who had a great run in his Small Block debut

Drivers of the Week

Notes:
Two indoor SB winners were in the C main, tough competition is an understatement

First, let me emphatically state that this post is not intended to accuse, point a fingers at, or criticize any one’s driving or performance so far this year. It is simply aimed at providing the most cost effective, equal for everyone, and competitive racing possible.

The Competition Committee was reviewing the state of affairs in the Big Block class and feel Rob’s comment is the right direction and we want your input; as is our tradition.

To be proactive on this we propose the following:

1.The current EDM Big Block class rules will modified slightly effective June 29, 2009 to include DODC brushless 13.5 motor, DODC battery or the use of last year’s 19T and NiMH equipment (through the 2009 outdoor season)

2.A new EDM Mod Class is established, using DODC rules which cover chassis and body, with open battery and motor. Should the class desire a maximum motor can be established by a class vote. But it seems that would start the motor of the month war all over again.

It seems that the longer we wait to fully enact the DODC equipment we are allowing the mentality and temptation to use the motor of the month, or the battery of the week and spend ourselves silly. This is exactly what we do not want as it will ultimately destroy our sport.

Please think this through and if you participate in this call vote; and as we realize not everyone is on the web this will be discussed in detail on the next race night.

Rob who?....lol We get out late enough every week, do we need another class? do we need another class with 3-4 cars in it? I agree with making the DODC rules effective asap.:cool:

Hey Gang
With the help of Howie last night we fixed all the lights, including the main light for turns 3 & 4 which fell off its mount as Rob S left the drivers stand form his last practice laps.

However, there are still work to be done. I have the 3rd off and hopefully can get some help to replace the inside boards in turns 3 & 4.

And; if we can get a few more volunteers, I would like to replace the rest of the yellow wood with the new white plastic material. IF we can get 4-6 guys I would wager we can get this done in 3-4 hours.

I need to know ASAP so I can order the material, so don't be shy and speak out

You guys are the best:)

With the help of 5-6 dedicated (crazy) club members we installed the inside rail at both ends of the track; no more wavy plywood and spikes and completed the outside wall retrofit with the white plastic.

This also includes a new turn four on-ramp. No more 12 foot opening in turn four to get shoved out of the park!

Behind the inside 5" plastic board is the ever popular new sod. If this turns out to be too close, we will put another 5" board with grooves (speed dips) behind and then the new sod.

Mother nature chased us out with a second cloud burst at 4:20 so the final track grooming and re-pack up near the new wall could not be completed, but that is scheduled for Sunday or Monday afternoon at the latest.

Thanks to everyone that helped, even the "Sandwich Man!"

Next up in a few weeks is the drivers stand which is showing its age.

I will get to the track 3PM monday and I will tamp down the dirt that was moved Friday. if it is done I will do general clean up.
