How do you use the two holes in the top of the aluminum caster blocks? In other words - what does it do to handling?

The two holes make the castor blocks universal...they work on either the right or left. I don't have my car in front of me...but if I remember correctly...the the hole to the rear is used.

I broke 3 castor blocks at the Freeze this year...then got a pair of these from Mike...and haven't broke one since!:thumbsup:

Curtis,

That's because you just break wheels now! LOL!

Glad to see the website updated. Are there any more updates on the way?

Yes, there are some more new products coming out soon. And Curt is also correct, you use the rear (towards back of car) holes. RPM steeering blocks fit perfectly into these blocks. All others work fine also, you just need to use shims in them. I do not have an exact size, but I can measure them for you guys later. I am using some Duratrax blue ones, that are perfect.

Take care,
Russ

This too can be accomplished, but you will want to use the RPM steering blocks, the others are not long enough, that I have tried. They tend to hit the back of the caster block when turning. Just an F.Y.I.

Take care,

The wide rear blocks work great too, they work great for making a car offset;) or making a wide car. Oh, and they are universal from right to left.

I saw on your website that you had some different shock towers available. Would lose be for loose track setups? Would they work on your Nitro Sprinter?

New parts look killer!

Jeff, the towers will bolt onto the Sprinters, but as for helping a loose condition, that all depends on what oils & springs u have on your shocks. I run a basic setup on my Electric Sprinter w/ the standup shock tower on the front just about everywhere I go. That setup includes RC 4 Less springs & 45wt Losi oil on all 4's.

As far as a Nitro Sprinter goes, I am going to try 45wt oil in front & 60wt oil in rear since Nitro cars have tendencies to push. "Just my opinion". Hope this helps & answers your ?.

GO FAST TURN LEFT ! Keith S.

Thanks for the input. We race buggy tire/Loose tracks here in NSCS country. Really like the car. The ability to stand the shock up can help in the conditions we race in.

ok,I've been mulling this over for about the last month and I'm curious about the out-drives..will these take the place of the CW #4203 Pro Differential as a direct replacement?..

I'm not very familiar with the CW #4203 Pro Differential or the outdrives that it uses, but the new outdrives from JRC were made to use with the direct drive kit that he offers. The difference between those outdrives and the aluminum outdrives that he makes for the 2.4 transmission is that the DD outdrives have a 'stepped' design on the stem and they are designed to utilize the larger Associated pancar differential rings.

If you look at the left outdrive in the picture below, you can see that the stem has a 'step' to it. This allows you to use one of the 5/32" x 5/16" bearings (the two small bearings that are in the 2.4 diff) and one 3/16" x 3/8" bearing (a standard wheel bearing). The 3/16" x 3/8" bearing fits on the 'stepped' part of the stem, then the OD of the 3/16" x 3/8" bearing will then fit inside of the diff gear.

Mike : How much wider is the car in the rear after these are installed? Thanks Jim

Jim-
Thats one of the great things about the JRC Direct Drive conversion, it is the same width as a transmission would be.
Thanks,
Mike

If you use one of Mike's chassis you can swap the transmission and the direct drive. Same suspension, cvd's and mounts. It's a nice unit. One of these days I'm gonna get one.

no, that part from kipps site will not work with his unit. the custom works used a different size unit. mike's unit will work with any associated diff outdrives(2.25, 2.4, 2.6 tranny sizes). he has a nice set forsale that eliminates the need for a spaced on the gear bearing. i just put one together and the nice part about it is it costs alot less than the custom works pro diff that you have in the picture....

Mike: When you use your new wide a-arm mounts on a car that has a 9 inch rear track, the track of the car becomes aprox. 9 3/4 inches wide. Would you then need to use the longer B4 dog bone instead of the B3 bones? Or is another dog bone needed? Thanks for your time Jim

What size Out-drive flanged bearings are used in Mike's Direct Drive Set-up? Thanks.

Hi Matt, I believe they are 3/8 x 5/8 bearings but they are not flanged (standard out-drive bearings). The old CW DD setup did use a flanged bearing.
