View Full Version : DODC National Points Race

StaubBrothers
April 18th, 2009, 11:41 PM
As you can tell, a lot of things have come together in the last week or so. DODC has offered us a chance to run a points race for the National Championship. We are honored to announce this race will help celebrate our 20th Anniversary race the day after the PA Nitro Tour race. The Tour race is June 20 and the DODC Points Race is tentatively set for June 21. The PANT rain date is June 21. So if the tour race is pushed to Sunday, the DODC race will be the next Saturday. More information will be updated on our site as the date draws closer and details are finalized.

Thanks to DODC, this will be our second national race ever held at our speedway.

Weekend at Staubs' can't go wrong there.

This defiantly will be a great weekend for racing. By Sunday the DODC race should be extra good since everyone will be dialed in from the tour race. Is the track going to be open for a few hours on Friday night for some organized practice?

Thanks,
Steve

That's my plan, Steve, but I'll need to talk it over with the track prep crew. :D

Can rv's and trailers be parked on Friday night?

Can rv's and trailers be parked on Friday night?

Yes. We are anticipating people will arrive Friday evening for practice and pit setup. Spending the night is not a problem. Quiet hours will be between 12:00 a.m and 6:00 a.m. (Some racers and our neighbors will want some sleep LOL).

Practice time will be limited Saturday morning. The PA Tour is going to try to start the qualifiers at 11:00 a.m on Saturday.

People are more than welcome to camp out in tents, but the tents will need to be torn down Saturday and Sunday mornings to allow more room in the pit areas. Canopy tents can remain up all weekend. Please remember to peg down all canopies and tents. It gets quite breezy at the track. Also remember to bring an FM radio and tune it into 91.0. We only have one speaker pointed out to the pits because of the proximity of our neighbors.

I have not had time to create a new page on our site listing details for Sunday's DODC race (6/21/09). Here is some of the details.

Registration will occur Saturday afternoon during the PANT race (looking at 2:00-4:00). Preregistration on Saturday will be $15. Saturday registration will be $20. We want everyone to register Saturday if possible so we don't need to mess with it on Sunday. This is a Cash payout race which will include TQ and Lucky Dog money (similar to our Championship Dash).

Track will open at 7:00.
Practice starts at 8:00.
Racing will start promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Our goal is to have people on the road home by 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening.

With this in mind, we are looking at limiting the classes offered. This is up for discussion here. Quite frankly, I'm confused at what are the DODC classes.

Definitely in the line up:
Open Sprint and Late Model
Limited Sprint and Late Model
Nitro EDM
13.5 Late Model
Electric Limited Mod. Sprint
Electric Modified EDM

We are considering not running:
Gas Truck (it's not a DODC class)

Not running:
Gas Sportsman

Please, please, don't get mad if you are planning to run one or both of the these classes we are considering to drop. If there is interest in these two classes, we have no problem running them. Just remember, more classes will make it difficult for us to finish by 7:00 or 8:00. This is also our 20th Anniversary celebration. We want everyone to have a great time and have an opportunity to race.

Let us know your opinion on the classes. A final class lineup will be posted here and on our website on Sunday, 6/14.

After looking at the PANT preregistration, I added the Electric Limited Mod. Sprint class to the definite list in the above post.

I see a few have asked about mod edm.
I thought this would have been a decent class?
Thanks

We are willing to run the Electric 13.5 EDMs and Gas Truck classes if we can get at least 8 in each class. For 13.5 EDM, DODC requires a minimum of 10 to count towards points. If interested in either class, post here please.

fyi- mod EDM is a DODC class. Now with that said there would be a real good chance of having a full points field for 13.5 EDM. I would think that with possibly some of the Indiana and NY racers coming in that you would have enough mod EDM's as well. Unfortunately I cannot race on Sunday. Otherwise I would be drumming up the mod guys.

I`m up for running any EDM Class.

Here's the final listing of classes scheduled to race on Sunday. Eight classes will run for national points:

Nitro Open Sprint and Late Model
Nitro Limited Sprint and Late Model
Nitro EDM
13.5 Late Model
Electric Limited Mod. Sprint
Electric Modified EDM

I decided to go with the Mod. EDM class because 13.5 EDMs can run with the mods. Setup and flow through the turns is more beneficial at our track versus mighty horse power.

If the PA Nitro Tour would get rained out on Saturday, the PANT rain date is Sunday. Therefore the tour race would count for the DODC national points as well. The odd class out will be the Electric Mod. EDM class. If the Tour needs to run on Sunday, there will be no Electric Mod. EDM class since it is not a PANT class. Don't worry. It's not going to rain.

The weather is looking better each day we approach the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be overcast in the high 70's,-low 80's. There is a chance of isolated showers on Saturday and Sunday. It's setting up to be a great weekend of racing in Central PA.

I would imagine we must follow the DODC rules for the results to count towards the points. If that's not the case, I would follow the tour ruling on the motors. I'll have to ask Rob on Saturday.

Thanks to everyone who stuck around on Sunday after a long, long Saturday of rain delays and great competitive racing indicative of the PA Nitro Tour. Sunday's impressive 62 entries made for a relaxing and enjoyable day of racing compared to the PA Nitro Tours' 217! It was a relaxing atmosphere but the competition and excitement was still there. Congrats to TQ and A-Main winners in each class. Hope to see everyone back sometime soon--just not all at the same time. :D
