View Full Version : Championship Dash
StaubBrothers
April 18th, 2009, 11:31 PM
The Staub Brothers' Used Auto Parts Championship Dash is slated for May 2. This special race has been a driver favorite for years. The format is one qualifier which basically places you in your Main. Then there are three mains. The driver's two best mains are added together to determine finishing order. The laps are secretly tabulated and reported only at the end of the event. So it really doesn't matter which main you get into. With consistently fast races, anyone can win.
Anticipating another large turn out like last year, we will start qualifying at 2:00. Track will open at 11:00.

No, it won't be open this Friday for practice--sorry. At our drivers' meeting this past weekend I said that the weekend of the PA Nitro Tour race we would most likely have practice Friday evening.

Thanks, buddy. Your dirt track will take time to come around. If you haven't already, there will come a time when you will curse it up and down for not turning out the way you want it to. With TLC it all works out.
Hope to see you racing soon!

Hey Scott,
I know it's a little early yet to predict tomorrows weather, buy for all us guys that have to leave @ 6:30 / 7:30 am tomorrow morning to be there by 10:00 its a little bit of a concern. The weather on the Internet for the Gettysburg area only looks like 50/50 right now (8:30 am Friday)... and in the evening its looking a bit worst (60/40)......... what's your thinking on when you might make a call on a rain delay???

Johnny, just watched the Noon weather & looks like AM showers possible, but rest of day cloudy w/30 percent chance of stray shower. Highs in the mid 60's.

Guys!
I was hoping our reputation would precede us. I know many of you will be traveling a good distance and that is why we will make every effort to get the race in. If it would look like steady to hard rain for most of the day we would call it in the morning. With 50% or less chance of rain showers predicted, we will not make a final decision until after 12:00 and as late as 2:00. Please don't consider this disrespectful to the people that will travel several hours to get here. We are doing it because we all want to race and don't want people to make a wasted trip.
Our track is covered and as most of you can attest, our track is very resilient. As long as we can begin no later than 3:00 (if we would even need a delay) and finish around 12:00 AM, we will not call the race.

I just watched the 5 o'clock news & According to Mick O"hern or local weatherman, tomorrow should be partly cloudy w/ chance of stray shower, but only 30% chance . Just thought I would update everyone. Guess it all depends on how the wind blows.

Dale, your luck the last couple races was as good as mine, but the cars were working well. I also need to get the monkey off my back w/ the Nitro car.
I also would like to thank the Staubs for a very well run show. Even w/ the computer glitch we got done @ a decent time.
As for the 13.5 class, I had a blast running w/ Dan D. & Steve B. Congrats on the TQ Dan, but it wasn't enough ! LOL:D. Both U & Steve have come a long way in the past year & im looking forward to running against both of you this summer.
Congrats to ALL the winners :checkeredflag:

Thanks the Staubs crew. i would also like to Thank my wife Heather for letting me wheel her 13.5 late model.......this class is awesome. Keith i know it still wasnt enough... LOL
but only 3 secs behind to finish second and the TQ is good enough for me. it was a surprise to finish third in limited sprint and fifth in open sprint with a limited car.... my 2 new Custom Works cars and the experimental set ups are still a work in progress. it was a great day of racing in all classes and the format for this event just keeps everyone guessing. pitting and racing with Steve (what for) B. is an experience that kept me on my toes all day. this was a great start to the season.

What can I say... The Track was GREAT, the new food wagon was GREAT and the racing was GREAT! I had a very good time running the the 13.5 LM class, loads of fun! I would like to congratulate both Keith S and Dan D for their good runs and wins:thumbsup:. I really felt like I got molested on the track especially when Dan D used my car as a ramp for a jump and cleared the spoiler :thumbsup:LOL (Thanks for the pit spot). I also want to give a shout out to Chris M. with his Lite-Brite car:D, I was impressed how well it was working by the end of the night (I know how often you run limited sprint), I think the lights helped:thumbsup:. I almost forgot about Glen N., to bad you had to leave early your car was working in the 2nd main, I think the new scales are working for ya:thumbsup:. Congrats to all the other winners and lucky dogs. Oh one other thing the track crew are PRO's:thumbsup::thumbsup: best outdoor surface I've seen yet(Fast and smooth).

DanHey Dan, not to burst your bubble, but if u look @ the results from each main I had 3 LAPS on ya, not 3 seconds. U beat me by 3 SECONDS in the last main. LOL ! :D. U did an awesome job though. Also, glad to see Heather came to her senses & fired ya. TQ & can't pull out the win, I would of fired ya also :ha:.

Thanks Keith, you did have 3 laps on me. but with the drop it was only 1 lap in the end. i think you paid Steve (what for) B to beat me down in the second round.......LOL. i was only repeating what Scott had said after the races were over. as far as Heather firing me.. thats OK. i will just build another car, i just have to figure out how race it without her knowing it.....LOL.
seriously i think this was a once and done 13.5 late model race for me. Heather only let me drive cause she wasnt feeling well, she has been having problems with her MS again lately and she just went to the Dr today and it was all bad news.
Thanks for the great race, it was definitely one i will remember.
