View Full Version : Mini Late Model Carpet Shoot Out

Allen has finally set a date for the Mini Late Model Carpet Shoot Out. The race will be held Saturday, April 18th. It will be a one day show featuring two, maybe three 18th scale Late Model classes. The track might be open for a few hours after 5pm on Friday for pit set up and a little track time.

-Stock (using the current rules at Allen's R/C)
-Modified (2wd, 4wd, foam or rubber, Li-Po, Brushless, etc)
*if there is enough 2wd cars this class may be split

I will post more details as soon as Allen approves them ;)

We have had over 60 different drivers in this class this winter. Should be a good way to end the Indoor Winter season!

To be clear...In mod, can I run 4wd,lipo,foams,side dam,...paragon? The lipo & paragon had always been a no no at Allen's indoor carpet track, so as I said, I want to be crystal clear. Sorry for the annoying questions, & thanks for your response in advance!

The rules for the Mod class haven't been set yet. Foams and Li-Po will be allowed for the Mod class only. Not sure about side-dams yet... but Paragon will NOT be allowed in any class. Yes there will be a place for 4wd... whether it will be separate from a Mod 2wd or not I don't know yet.

Like I said... details are still being ironed out. The main class will be the Stock (or SuperStock if you want to be technical) class using the rules currently being used here at Allen's. I just wanted to get the date and the general idea out there before it gets too late in the season. The idea of having this race has been around since December, and it just keeps getting put off and put off.

If all goes well hopefully I can get Allen to approve the rules and format by this weekend. I think I have a pretty cool format that even Sonny hasn't used yet.

Let me know.

Looking forward to it.

I 'll have you covered on the car and battery. Personal would help. If you have a Spektrum module we can bind to it. If not bring an extra receiver.

I think it still has the track record this year. He will be fine.

It would be a lot cooler to see Chad race in the open class, just to see what kinda off the wall trick go fast stuff he'd be running!

I think that I'll take Sonny up on his invitation, not sure what class it will be in. I hope I don't look like a fool in whatever class I'm in.......

I'm just looking to have some good racing, currently no time to come up with anything of my own, I'll be donning a Losi Shirt so get the cameras ready!

I will have the Boomerang "4" there so everyone that wants to can check it out.

See you there.

You should try the motor out of your little "power" drill. It should last a long time! :greenflag:

Right off Allen's web site:
You may change out the radio/receiver and servo for your preference.

Are brushed (R&D or stock) motors subject to the gear rule normally enforced every week?

Before the rumors get out of hand the R&D part is for increased longevity not speed. Yes myself or anybody that would like to test one will run under the set gear rules.

Just having some fun and testing at the same time this weekend. Chad's car and mine will both have stock OEM motors for the big race.

Still in a daze after that last run, it is a nice Aviator. A guy does them at the track I thinks his name is the same as yours, Nice work Jim. I am looking for sponsors. LOL I know I have to stop taking the track owner out of races before that will happen. Been a fun winter as far as indoor racing goes.

I put up a list of people that have said they will be there. Hopefully I didn't miss too many of them. The list is in the other thread.

Was that YOU?! that took Allen out running for 1st and 2nd half way through the race?! Knowing that Allen has yet to win a race this year LOL!!! Man, I saw that and the Crowd went AWWWWWWW! And poor Allen just hung his head and went for the pits, dashing his hopes of a win during the 08 - 09 season at his own track forever. You should of saw him just kind of limply carrying his car back to the table shoulders slumped, dreaming of what could of been... And - I imagine - what may be at the dirt track coming up!! He expected that out of Scotchbrite, but you?! Oughta be interesting... :checkeredflag:

Just kiddin' LOL We all had fun! Hope to see you on the dirt!

Jim

As far as the sponsorship goes, you had a chance until you dissed the owner and now I can't be associated with you. Sure you understand.... lol
