View Full Version : World of Outlaws live WEBCAST of USOWC
Custom Works RC
December 5th, 2008, 4:29 PM
We are very pleased to announce that the World of Outlaws have agreed to provide live webcast coverage of this years US Open Wheel Championships through their www.dirtvision.com (http://www.dirtvision.com) website. This broadcast will be provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of the World of Outlaws and Dirtoval.com. This is still pending completion of the internet service to the track which looks like it will happen at this point.
More info will be coming as soon as we get through the weekend. Brian Dunlap or BrianD as he is known on here will be posting some additional information shortly that will tell you exactly what you will need to do to view the webcast.
Thank you to Brian and the World of Outlaws for making this available to the racers who wont be able to make it to the race this year! At least you will be able to watch it now from the comfort of your own home.
Thanks,
Rob

Custom Works RC
December 5th, 2008, 7:08 PM
You will need to register on the Dirtvision site but you will not have to pay to view this event. As I said BrianD will be posting all of the info required to be able to view the broadcast as soon as it is available.
Just so you know a majority of the broadcast will be just a stationary webcam beginning mid to end of week for the practice and fridays qualifying. Beginning sometime saturday there will be 2 cameras with one being a manned camera to follow the racing action and get some driver interviews. Should have audio as well so you will hear all of the great racing action via legendary announcer Scotty Ernst!
Thanks,
Rob

I want to thank everyone for the nice words. This was something I have wanted do for awhile and its something that quite a few people within our company feel could turn out really cool. When I originally bounced this idea off of our CEO just to make sure he would be okay with I figured I would have to at least do a little justifying of why I wanted do it, instead I got a “that’s cool, do you need to do” which was really cool coming from him. It’s been cool to see how people within our company who aren’t big into rc races are starting to talk about it and get excited over it.
As for being able to watch the broadcast, you will just need to log onto www.dirtvision.com (http://www.dirtvision.com) and sign up for a membership which is free. One thing to note, to activate your membership, the site will send you an email with a link to click on to complete the process. If for some reason you don’t get the email in your inbox check your spam folder as they seem to have habit of migrating there with some email accounts. If you have any issues with logging on feel free to post any questions or issues you have here and I will check frequently and work to get them answered so everyone can enjoy the race.
The plan as of now is to begin broadcasting on Thursday morning and continue through the mains on Sunday.
A big thanks is owed to Rob and everyone at C&S for all of their help in getting us what we need to broadcast the race.

Things like this move RC racing to Main street.
I'm really looking forward to watching.
If there was a way to advertise it to Non-rc people, I'll bet that there could be a lot of interest generated in RC racing.
Thanks to all that made this happen.

Welcome to "The Greatest Show on Dirt"!!
Thank you Brian, the WOO's, and Dirtvision for your support for the thing we luv to do, emulate you! Put a show on a smaller scale. The time, money and labor involved for us to race these cars can only be rivaled by the folks that put on the shows for us all summer long on the WOO tour.
Good luck to all drivers that will attend this stellar event. Wish I could be there.
I will be watching!!

Thanks for setting this up Brian. I hope my dsl connection is fast enough to keep up.
How about getting some commentary for Thursday practice? Set up a couple mics somewhere and have guest analysts. Kind of like the commentary track you get with most DVDs. j/k - probably a little much for the first year.
