Will practice be like it was in '06, or more like '07? I am not complaining its just that when you are running three open nitro cars & the practices are just one big open class (like in '07) it is really hard to get more than one car out per practice session. I liked it better in '06 when you broke it down per class better. Plus I noticed some of the Limited cars were "double dipping" by also practicing in the open nitro session& & with the cars now looking very similar (LM's) it may be harder to police.
Thank you,
Russ

I thought it went pretty well last year. Open practice until it got out of control then changing over to controlled practice . That was about how it went at Coopers the year before.

At a big race like the OW with so many classes I'd like to see an all controlled practice. But that is most likely not going to happen as there are too many cars and not enough help. Dam I hate open practice.

Normally the practices are controlled after Tuesday. Not sure but I would think the same will happen this year.

We have not set up the practice schedule yet. It will be some combination of how we did it last year and the year before. Last year seemed to work pretty good as by the end of most of the essions there were rarely many people in line waiting. I dont know if there is a perfect formula as the bottom line is with this many entries and a 12 hour day you get about 12 minutes on the track. Not a lot of time by any means but that is the nature of the beast. As soon as we have that sored out it will be posted on here as well as at the track when you arrive.

Can we run"practice heats" on thursday. Print "heat sheets" that are used to run 4 minute "heats" of cars of same type and power. No need for lines. you know when you are up. Will prevent drivers from running for 15 minutes at a time and especially from guys with buddies around the track switching cars every 4 minutes.

We are considering that but a decision has not yet been made. As far as the issues you bring up, running for 15 minutes and switching cars, neither of those were issues with the system we used last year. We will do the best we can to get everyone as much quality practice tiime as possible.

I like the heat set up for practice. (like the "Birds") Either way thank you Rob. I just know that last year in the open practice I could only get one car out per practice session, two if I really hustled & that just made it difficult to get a good feel for the track.
Take care,
Russ
