The 3200mah DODC Spec Lipo Batteries are now available and have begun shipping to DODC tracks this week. These batteries are the only approved batteries for DODC Spec 17.5 and 13.5 classes. They are a 28C 2S 7.4volt battery and are manufactured by SMC to the same high quality and standards as all of their Lipo Batteries.

The Trainshed in Lake Ariel, PA and Bumps and Jumps in Etters, PA should have batteries available now. Look for them to be arriving at other tracks in the coming weeks.

The DODC 13.5 motors will be available in approx 2 weeks. For those who are coming to the open wheel race and would like to recieve their motors and batteries ahead of time a decision on that has not yet been made but will be announced as soon as possible.

Tracks who intend on running the DODC Spec classes and would like to purchase batteries can email: rob@dirtoval.com for additional info.

Are you sure you don't want to up the Mah rating on these? Sure took a while to re-charge.

does anyone know how long these batteries last(roughly)? like are they going to be good for just one 4 minute run or can you get 2 runs out of them? Basically if you had to run back to back in a bump up situation would 1 battery hold up or not?

i believe you are defonitely going to need more than one battery to race, unless its a big race with hours in between runs. imagine that:blackflag: more batteries to be bought $$ , and a profit to be made.:blackflag:

Glenn had to put around 1500 back into the pack after a run at bumps on Saturday. So personally I wouldn't even attempt it.

I ran one of the SMC 3200mah 28C lipos at the Fall Classic we had a few weeks ago. And it did fine, but it took about 1750mah's to repeak it, so I dought you will be able to make 2 heats with one charge on it. And it takes like 40mins to repeak it.

sounds like we can really save some $$ with these packs huh? my $140 4900 will make it 2 races, but needing 2 dodc 3200's at what, $170 for the 2 packs to do the same job, that sounds pretty cool too I guess. thanks for the info guys

The merits and reason for choosing this battery have been discussed already. Being able to run 9 minutes with one was never a top priority for any of us. This is the only battery being produced right now that will continue to be produced exactly the same way for probably 2 years or more. Every other battery on the market is likely to change specs at any time as soon as demand, technology and price warrant it. Maybe you have to buy 2 packs at some point but you wont have to buy 2 more in 6 months when a 38C battery comes out. This is about reducing the effect of the very dynamic changes in technology that are going on right now with the batteries and motors as well.

BTW if you think somone is getting rich off of this please think again. We have a lot of ideas for programs to benefit the racers in the future but these are still in the development process. If you guys have a little patience you will see some good things come from this program in the future. I am more than happy to donate my time to help accomplish these things but if you expect me to pay for them out of my pocket well, that isnt going to happen. If you want to continue to buy batteries from LRP, Orion, Checkpoint, Trackpower or whoever, feel free. Just understand that even more money is being made off of them and if any of it is going back into the racing programs it is going into sponsoring Touring car races, and Off road races. You might see some of those companies banners at the local dirt oval track but I guarantee you havn't seen any of their profits there.

Same as a SMC3200 28C lipo. It's the same battery with a DODC sticker on it.

Rob Cutman

Rob, or anyone else - what balancers do you recommend for the DODC Batts.

The Equinox (it’s the same as the checkpoint) is a good all-around balancer. There are a few guys that swear by the Blinkie balancer, I think it is universal and doesn’t require any adapters so that would be a plus with it. If you’re buying a charger I would highly a Hyperion with the built in balancer. Dollar for dollar it’s a great charger with a lot of precision features.

When you hook a hyperion charger up to the PC - can you get a discharge graph-readout like the CE GFX gives you?

I am not sure, I just got the data cable and havent had a chance to play with it yet. The next time I will get a chance to mess with it will be at the openwheel.

The 2s adapter that comes with the Equinox fits the SMC batteries and should plug right in to your Trakpower/Checkpoint balancer. They also carry an adapter with a deans plug so you can balance charge at higher amp rates. I have seen guys use the cheap stock adapter and add their own Deans plug, but I'm not sure which two leads they are running to the Deans. Maybe someone can chime in.

Do not get the Equinox leads that say they are for TP. This is the Thunder Power four pin leads..which are handy for the guys that run the 40c in Mod. ;)
