what do you tune in them? is your 13.5 faster than novaks?

"DirtOval.com Spec motors must be out of the box stock, with no modifications allowed. No parts of motors may be modified, altered or removed in any way. More specific Tech guidelines for motors will be available to all participating track owners and race organizers."
I guess the question is, what is the rest of the spec, and do these meet it for the new 2009 season?
And the 13.5 I just bought from you, will that be legal? Just ran it for the first time last week, runs very nice in my EDM.

your motor will be legal everywhere except tracks that have adopted DODC rules.

Tune timing, shimming, gauss the rotor and record its measurement, etc; Basically blueprint everything we can. We can also install ceramic bearings for added performance.
Yes, our 13.5 motors are much faster than the Novaks - the timing on them is far greater than the Novaks-

I in no-way mean any disrespect to any vendor of brushless.............but this is the Exact reason why i dont approve of this type of racing. we can all tweak r brush mtrs for a 3rd of the cost! all the frkn cryn out thr about workn the mtrs is nothing more than sure laziness. were all mechanically inclined to some extent or u wouldn't b racing in the first place. sorry if i offended some of you ......just expressing my feelings. john :mad:

After at least 10 years of cutting comms after EVERY run, it is so nice to not touch motor screws all day long! No more lugging around a lathe, and a 2nd charger just to run it! No more bags of brushes & springs, motor stands, fans, comm sticks, etc. It is so liberating to be able to plug your Lipo into the charger, clean your tires, and then go BS until your next race! It makes me want to run additional classes, where normally I'd only have time for one.

No offense taken. I totally agree that tuning brushed motors was as big a part of racing as tuning with the chassis, body, tires, etc;
My thoughts are that if something is a speed variable, I want as much control over that variable as possible so I can work to gain every conceivable performance advantage...Any true hardcore racer, (by my definition) certainly shares these sentiments as well.
Unfortunately, people with our 'hard core racing mentality' are the minority in today's racing - and that's OK - as long as there is still racing to enjoy. Not everyone can or will make the commitment it takes to compete at the 'hard core' level.
On the grand scheme of things, I'd much rather race against the masses with a few of these tuning/speed variables restricted than to race full bore with just a handful of racers. :thumbsup:

How do the tuned brushless compare to your brushed tuned motors. I have had success with your 27t stock motors

I could definitely gain more with a brushed motor, mainly due to the fact that our brush compounds were far superior to any others out there. There were a lot more aspects that you could tune on as well, brush cuts, springs, comm size, hood alignment, etc;
There are performance gains that can be achieved by blueprinting and dyno-tuning a brushless motor.

The two speed controls I suggest are the LRP and Tekin units. Great performance from both, but the Tekin RS is the smallest brushed/brushless speedo available- :thumbsup:

hey todd. quick question. if u were to build a crazy mod brushless is there alot to gain? just asking because my mechanic is into the gas cars and they got some really good sized outdoor ovals near my house they play on. so was lookin for something to compete agaisnt them. also he will probably be calling for some suspension and some engine ideas or to buy some stuff from ya sometime soon. so ill need extra advantage lol

Yes, on the ovals in your neck of the woods an electric car will be faster than a nitro car. Call me and I can get you what you need to humiliate them... lol :thumbsup:

Not only is Todd the best motor man in the business, few understand his in-depth understanding of a racer's thoughts. Darrin mentioned "playing" and "competing" against his friends. Only through years of experience did Dr. Putnam understand his true meaning......... to Humiliate the competition. I yield to the master!

Thanks BT. This insight was proven to me years ago when a veteran would place his dearest friends in "Figure 4 Leg-Locks," beating them into submission. ;)
