I have one of you super trans and was just wondering about the gear ratio. I used to run a gt trany with a 17 or 18 tooth clutchbell and 62 spur. I guess what I am asking, is what is your recomendation for gearing on your trany?

Gregg,

The Gear ratio of the Super Trans is 2.5:1.

The Gear Ratio of the GT Trans is 2.6:1.

To maintain close to those same Final Drives, you can use 64 spur and a 17 clutch bell that will be close to your 17 & 62 of the GT Trans.

To be close to the 18 & 62 use a 64 Spur gear and a 17 tooth clutch bell .

I hope this gets you close.

I'm sure you'll be Happy with your New DynoTech Super Trans. I have one in my Nitro Sportsman and it works Flawlesslyusing 3000 wt diff lube.Be sure to lightly grease the internal gears with the special tube of lube provided.

Gregg,
Do you race at a small Bullring type track ? Your Geared pretty High. It has to really Rev.:revs: I race on a 240 ft run line track and use a 20 tooth spin-on clutch gear and either a 60 or a 62 tooth spur gear.

The only way I know of to get a clutchbell that small would be to use the GT type .

Maybe someone else may have a suggestion.

I went to a SG shaft motor mount on an old rc10gt, you can use traxxas clutchbells. Can't remember what part numbers, have several of them. Bought them from Racers Edge.

Thank's Allen,

Don't Traxxas Clutchbells use bigger bearings than the GT's ? I know that's the
" Achilles Heal " of the Associated clutchbell's.The smaller bearings go bad quicker.

Plus with the SG shaft with a Traxxas Bell , will run truer which will help even more . Plus the gears are readily available.

I race with Gregg and will also be picking up a DC5 very soon and am interested in the gearing as well.

As far as the track, yeah its pretty small, I would guess the run line is roughly 180-200ft. We geared our old 'one off' Klein cars by word of mouth which put us at 18/62 with the GT tranny. Gearing a car has never really been one of my strong points. Trying to find the ideal ratio for a given track has always been a little tricky.
