I'm attempting to build my own car, so I've been looking around for parts to complete it. I see the tranny case that GFRP makes, but the description seems unclear... if I get this case can I use all T4/B4 internals, or is anything else required to complete the gearbox?

Thanks,
Matt

it uses the b3 topshaft, b3 idler gear, and the b4 diff assembly. The case was designed when the B3 tranny's were hard to get. So we made a case that would use the still readily available parts to complete the tranny.

Ok, so what should I do for a transmission? What all parts are needed?

Stupid question for you now. Without looking the parts up myself (lazy). Does this still result in a 2.6 ratio or a 2.4 or something else?

parts needed would be:

GT, B3 topshaft
B3, B4 idler gear
B3,B4 idler shaft
B4, GT diff gear
B4, GT outdrives

The completed tranny would be a 2.60 tranny. Those who don't think they would work well in stock. They took the top two spots in the A main in EDM.

I run the 2.6 tranny out at the Fremont, CA. dirt oval and the car is fast, around the whole track, we run a 10.5 class and I am geared at 51-88 64 pitch and the car is fast and the motor runs about 120 f. I will always run the 2.6 tranny.

I do believe you can use a b4 top shaft if you want. I have one in a b3 2.40 tranny and it is working perfect. You just need to lose the spacer on the top shaft. I like the b4 slipper much better than the older style.

This maybe a redundant question, Does your case require a special motor mount or will my CW mount work? Thanks, SHACK

CW motorplate will work perfect.

Setting up to make 150 of them right now. I'm hoping that the gear diff works in them. If it doesn't I will have one that will very quickly.

Dustin, what part is changed to make it a 2.4? Is it the topshaft or diff?

You just need to put in a GT/B4 diff gear.

I bought a havoc Nov of last year and I believe my Tranny case takes the regular b3 diff. The b4 is bigger, do I need a special # to order the case to accomidate the b4 diff?
and does anyone know if the sc10 gear diff can be used in place of the b4 diff? looks like it has same number of teeth at the same pitch.

The cars come standard with the B3 Associated Case. The machined case that everyone is referring to is Part # GFR1022. This can be purchased thru any of our dealers. As for the SC10 gear diff working in it, no it will not. I spoke with Associated yesterday and the tranny requires different bearing sizes. I'm picking up a Gear Diff assembly this weekend and will be producing a case soon for the gear diff.

Hope this helps.

Will you be making a "GT" style tranny case for the gear diff as well (for the gas cars)?

I will look into it. I've thought about doing a GT tranny for a while. That would be a good one to do.

Let me get the diff parts this weekend and see what it will take to get something done.

Sweet, put me on the list for 3 or 4 when you come out with them! I have one of the electric trannies, & that is a very nice piece.

Will the gear case for the SC10 diff fit CW cars as well?

I'm looking into the gear diff. Hobby shop I went to this weekend didn't have one. I ordered one this morning. I will keep everyone posted on it.
