And that's a wrap! We finished up the Season under the roof at NewRed and there was no rain though we were asking for it just to cool things down! After it was all over I found out somebody had a radar gun and the smaller cars were doing anywhere between 41 - 45 mph on the back straight. (that's going slightly uphill) Another bullet point was we finished 2 rounds in 3.5 hours. That's mooovin! The action in 10.5 Late Model was tight, 0.6s separated the top 3 in qualifying. All the 8th scale guys were anxious, some hung back and some were rubbin fenders before the green flag so with people hanging back too far the race had to be restarted. Then the 2nd go at it was a little bit of a disaster with guys getting ancy! So the 3rd time was a go and it was 3 wide coming out of 4! Which was fine until the throttle kicked in! They managed to use up all the track and then some with everyone coming out clean but shuffled around. Mike Martin (starting 2nd) squeezed through the action to take the point with Rick Long (tq) dropping back to 5th after saving the car on the front straight. Mike's car was tight even after making some changes to free it up. Many cars looked tight except for Rick. He could put that thing just about anywhere (atleast in 3 and 4 where i was marshalling) and it wasn't too long before he caught up to Mike and took the lead back for good. Ronnie Setser worked his way up from 6th to knocking on Mike's bumper with a few laps to go but couldn't get by.

Anyways on with the Top 3 Overall for 2008.

Already we have begun working on making the Series better for next season. We have hired Karen, the timekeeper from Lil Dover, to be Race Director. The Series has purchased a laptop to run the racing on. That should keep things consistent and allow track owner/operators to race too! Other items are on the table and when those things are finalized we will publish those updates.

The Series Banquet will be on July 27th (2pm) at Quaker Steak and Lube (http://www.quakersteakandlube.com/Pinellas_Park_Clearwater_FL/) in Clearwater. All awards, raffles and prize money will be given out there. Show up, have some late lunch, enjoy the comraderie and even if you didn't finish well you still have a chance at the raffles. All our Sponsors have donated goodies. They support us in this way and we support them throughout the year by thinking of them first when we make our shopping list.

Race results are available here (http://www.newredhobbies.com/results/2008/07-13-2008/)
Series points are available on the FDOS website -> fldos.org (http://www.fldos.org)

I want to thank Hulsberg Grafix, McAllister, Custom Works, Factory Works, Wildmann Paints, Cooter Mods, Reilly Racing, Eddie Emery's Custom WoodWorking for helping us out. We had some phenominal turnouts this year even with the economy the way it is. Of course a big shout out as the kids say to Larry Rarer for doing the majority of the grunt work. We also must thank the track owners/operators for helping us put these events on.
