Fred’s Fab ‘N Fold Presents WDRA Summernationals as Putnam Propulsion Super Dirt Series Heads to Chico’s R/C Speedway on 7/18-19
The WDRA Putnam Propulsion Super Dirt Series will head to Chico’s R/C Speedway in LaFargeville, NY for the 8th running of the Fred’s Fab ‘N Fold WDRA Summernationals on July 18th and 19th. This is the first time in the history of the Summernationals that the lightning fast north-country oval will play host. For the second year in a row, the race will be held on Friday and Saturday night to take advantage of nighttime track conditions. Over the last 4 years, the Summernationals have averaged over 100 entries per year, and this year should be no differnet.
A new venue for this year is not the only exciting change for 2008 at the Fred’s Fab ‘N Fold Summernationals. Nitro racers will have an incentive to travel north in July as Dave Loughead and his Hunter’s Car Star Collision center will be putting up some big bucks for Nitro EDMs, Nitro Sprints and Limited Nitro Sprints. The driver who sits in victory lane for these 3 classes will pocket a cool $250, contingent upon at least 6 entries in each class. Prior to the main events, A-Main qualifiers for the 4 EDM classes that make up the Putnam Propulsion Super Dirt Series will each race in their own 15 lap Fred’s Fab ‘N Fold Dash for Cash, with $50 going to the winners. The Electric Sprints will not be left out, as Extreme Grafix proprietor Barry Wallace will offer a complete graphics package for the winner of the Extreme Grafix 15-lap Sprint Car dash.
2008 classes will include Big Block Modified EDM, Big Block 19-turn EDM, 13.5 Brushless EDM, Small Block EDM, Nitro EDM, Nitro Sprint, Limited Nitro Sprint and Electric Sprints.
At the 2007 Summernationals, Pete D’Agnolo was the man to beat, sweeping the Big Block EDM classes, while eventual series champion, Mike Jeffery just nipped Joe Rodriguez at the line to take Small Block laurels. The Buckeye State’s Steve Orth was the Electric Sprint victor. The last time Nitro cars appeared at the Summernationals was in 2006 when Billy Kimpton (EDM) and Arnie Fie (Sprint) graced victory lane. Limited Nitro Sprints and the 13.5 Brushless EDMs will be making their first Summernationals appearances.
The 2008 Fred’s Fab ‘N Fold Summernationals will kick off on Friday night, July 18th with the track opening for controlled practice at 4pm and the first heat rolling at 6:30 to start round 1 and 2. Round 3, dashes and Mains will follow the same schedule on Saturday night. Chico’s will open on Thursday night for open practice beginning at 6pm. Sunday afternoon will be used in the event of inclement weather.
As can be expected from the Summernationals a long list of sponsors is expected and door prizes will be plentiful. Dan Gill of Atomic Sign Works has generously donated trophies for the top 3 drivers in each class!
Entry fees and other details will be announced shortly, so stay tuned to www.wdraseries.com and the dirtoval.com forums for the latest information.

Update:
Unfortunately, I am not able to secure shirts from the same vendor as the previous 2 years, but I am confident that we will still have nice shirts made using the nice heavy cotton Ts as in years past.
The good news is that I do not have a large minimum to order, so I'll only be ordering about 90 shirts this year. If I have an unusually small amount of pre-entries, that number may be less. If you want to be sure that you get a shirt and be sure I have one in your size, I suggest that you pre-enter.

** Just a few quick notes to cover a few questions I have been asked about the Summernationals....
* There is plenty of room for camping on the grounds, you may want to bring a generator to power the campers if you guys have them available.
* Bring your own tables, chairs and extension cords to pit with. there are no benches at the speedway available to pit from.
* Pro Trucks are being added to the schedule for Saturday nights portion of the show. Entry fee for this class will be $15 and you guys will be running only 1 round of heats and mains on Saturday night only. Hometrack rules apply, open mod motors, 3" sidedam allowed. must be truck type chassis and suspension with full size truck tires. foams recomended tire.
* Food is available at the track. We have a fully stocked concession stand on site.
* Only a few weeks away, if you guys want to be sure you get a shirt and the right sizes are available, you might want to get the entries sent in to Wally.
*see you guys in a few weeks at the track

Wally - just want to drop a correction ahead of time on trophies - there will be an 18" trophy for the winner of all 8 classes, and a small trophy for every tq, not top 3... I felt a bigger trophy for the winners was better than 3 small ones.. (who wants a 3rd place trophy?) ;)

I think we'll be ok, I'm guessing the 30% chance each day is more due to the humidity we have with the warmer temps than anything else. Normally up here anytime the humidity and temp are high they throw out the scattered t-storms warnings. We have three days to make it happen, I'm sure we'll be able to get it in one way or another.

Ok then, it's 200' :D , at this pace we'll get it to 300 before friday. Seriously though it's real close to a 180' run line. Spent more time moving dirt on this track, and know most every inch of dirt on it.
