Putnam Propulsion SDS Heads to Little O For 3rd Leg of Western Regional Series

The WDRA Putnam Propulsion Super Dirt Series will head to the track where it all began on May 31st for the third leg of the Western Regional Series. On May 19, 2001 Steve Harris’ Little O Speedway hosted the very first WDRA Super Dirt Series event. Seven years later, Little O remains a fixture on the schedule as one of only 3 tracks that the series has visited each year.

Last year, Little O was the second leg of a double header with neighboring Joe’s Hobby Speedway. Matt Olmsted swept both Big Block classes, while Henry Ketch, Jr. took the checkers in the Small Block division. This year the Little O will not share the date, but will again run under the lights for optimal track conditions.

In addition to the regular WDRA EDM classes, Electric Sprint Cars will also be on the card.

The track will open for practice at 3pm. The first heat will roll at 5:30. Little O Speedway is located at 3945 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, Ny 14132.

Just A Foot Note on the race this weekend....

Mike Jeffery of JRC and Father of the JRC Sprintcar Series is Kicking in for the Food this Year. As in the past I belive he is going for the WNY Famous Beef on Wecks... Any one that has a dish to pass is very welcomed.

This years race will be Honoring the Memory of one the Little O Speedway's Greatest Racers who we lost last winter.

There will be an Honorary spot on the SB front row for Tom Fuertes and the proceeds from this race are being donated to his family.

We are hoping for a great turnout to give Tom a rightful fairwell.

See you there.

Rain slicker and something to keep your electronics dry while we race in the rain might be more likely....Whatcha say Steve?

The 6 pm news said that the thunder storm would come in around 11pm saturday night. With the chance of a little bit in the afternoon.

I will be busy on Sunday and I belive there is a race planned at Joe's Hobby just down the road. If it does rain out Saturday there is that race on sunday to fall back on....Its up to WDRA Main Man Wally to decide if that Sunday race at Joes would then become the WDRA points race or not.

Anyway you guys know me...There is no such thing as calling a rain out unless im on top of the roof top. I will try to get the track back even if I have to plow the whole thing up and put it back down again.

Wally will be the one making the call.

Wally that is sad to hear. It wont be the same without you.

copied this from www.weather.com (http://www.weather.com)...

May 31 Tomorrow (http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail/14132?dayNum=1)Showers and a few thunderstorms likely. High 73F. Winds WSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 60%.May 31 Tomorrow night (http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail/14132?dayNum=1)A shower or two around the area in the evening, then partly cloudy overnight. Low 52F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Not sounding good, I wouldnt blame anyone driving a long way to double think this one. However, I will say that they try to make a general statement on the area from Erie, Pa to Batavia, Ny and sure as S**t it will rain in that area but most of the time I dont get any.

Just have to see what happens. Its gonna do what its gonna do and we cant do anything about it.

I have joked about putting up a tent so we can race in the winter.

If eveyone brings an ez up there should be enough canopy to cover the track.

It rained like a Mo-Fo last night and up to about 4am. Track is pretty wet, I wont have to water for a while. But it is breezy and the sun is poking through the clouds a bit so it is drying pretty good.

If everything keeps going the way its going, the track will be ballistic tonight.

major props to Steve and his posse for getting the track in great racing condition. Who would have thought that the track we all saw at 3:30 would be ready to race by 7:00? Hats off to Steve AKA: "the kitty litter king"

Lil O's Steve Harris put on a masterful display of dedication into his track preparation Saturday night for his track. After a 1 hour thunder storm that featured heavy down pours at times, and golf ball sized hail 5 miles north of little O, Steve and his helpers managed to dry and run in the track. As the night progressed the racers started laying down some ballistic times. So without delay Steve Harris gets the award for the GOLDEN LTTER BOX.

Track was awesome......Glad to see all who stuck it out were rewarded with some great racing. Hats off to Steve, and his track prep & crew, and Mike Jeffery for the food and parts. It didn't start out looking so good, but the weather finally gave us some time to enjoy the day.... Hats off to the 'Kitty Litter Nats'.....Now if only Steve could figure out what to do with all the cats sitting on the track this morning.

Thanks to everyone for the very kind words. I feel that if you guys make the effort to travel out to my place then I should return the effort and get the race in.

I was very happy to see the number the number of people show up, despite the weather forecast.

I was very happy we could get the show in. we got off to bit of late start and I imagine that some people got home a little late. I would say the track was worth waiting for and MAN was it FAST.

I am still cleaning up things so I dont have the results handy just yet.

Thanks to Mike Jeffery, JRC for the food. Thanks to all the Lil O regulars for all the help with everything and especially thatnks to all the racers that hung around in the rain for so long that gave me a shot at having this race.

I really enjoyed it and hoe you all did too.

Steve,

As always, awesome job with the track. The only thing that needs to be done is to move it closer to Syracuse :p
