Well, I'm back in NY and the dust from the ECDOS Race #1 has settled. Thanks to Chad, Steve, Cam and the entire C+S crew for putting on another great show.
The trip to Cherryville was well worth it, as the Putnam Pro-Nitro Team claimed 2 TQ's, 2 Wins and 2 New Track Records in both the classes we competed in! Special Thanks to Lee Jones for stepping up and filling the seat in our Limited Late Model car, and helping us get a solid baseline setup for our Late Model cars.
The main reason we went down to this race was to develop and refine a baseline setup for Late Models. We are selling cars to customers who are running them as Late Models, but we do not have a proven, established baseline setup to offer them. As you know, Nitro as well as Late Models are currently Non-Existent in NY. So from a business standpoint I needed to travel to NC, (Late Model country) to do the R & D necessary to establish a baseline setup to offer to our Late Model customers.
Kevin Ridley was originally supposed to drive the Limited Late Model at this race, but due to a death in his family last Wednesday, had to cancel at the last minute. Lee Jones had contacted me about testing one of the cars weeks earlier, so when Kevin couldn't make it, he stepped up and offered to run it for me to give me feed back to develop the Late Model setup.
We achieved what we set out to accomplish, with Lee TQ'ing and Winning by 2 laps and putting a lap on the Limited Late Model track record- Outstanding results, especially considering it was done with the spec Truespeed fuel to boot. :thumbsup:
For Lee Jones, running Limited Late Model for us was a one-time deal, and I am sure you won't see him running the Limited LM class in the future. He did me and my customers a huge favor, and for that I thank him. I am confident that Lee will be a huge asset to our team in the future, as he has already been a huge help bringing his much needed Late Model knowledge to our team. He continually helped other racers throughout the weekend, and lent out parts, tires etc; to many racers.
