GTRS Race 1, RC Thunderdome, Pleasanton, KS

Twenty four drivers making forty five total entries invaded downtown Pleasanton, KS for a "Good Time" racing on a Sunday afternoon. The doors opened promptly at 10 AM and the nitro and electrons flowed freely until just past 5PM. Chris Butterfield had the 'Dome's surface just right for the 10 full heats of dirt oval action. Kudos to him for hosting the first GTRS race and his first nitro event. Sounds like he's ready for more.

As a bonus he ran a nitro vs electric "match" race and waived the entry fee as a thank you to all who participated in this event. All vehicles were truck based and IMHO it's still not settled which is better, nitro or electric. Lotsa fun for all twelve entries in this race. In the Electric Truck class we had nine entries rippin it up. For Nitro truck/EDM there were five fierce competitors. Next up was electric EDM with five more combatants. Then the noise and smoke rose up with the intense action for all seven great drivers in the nitro sprint class. Things may have quieted down a lil for the 7 electric sprinters but the on track action remained intense. And for the finale they tried to settle the age old nitro vs electric debate with five minutes of action. In my opinion it's still not settled. Twelve entered their truck based creations with six each in the A and B mains. Chris Pearce was declared the winner by yours truly but he claims he was second with his nitro only because Steve Matlick was so excited to defend the electric honor he forgot his transponder. Hope this match deal continues at all the tracks in the series.

Thanks again to everyone who came to the 'Dome and hope to see everyone and more at Ascot in Joplin, MO April 12th. If ya missed it ask anyone who was there. It was definitely a " GOOD TIME"
