I'd say Mamba if you're talking 1/10th scale...
Manually programmable or USB programmable with throttle curves, punch control, and software updates... Have one and LOVE IT!
Just make sure it's legal. Some racing series have banned them.

Tekin. These are very easy to program. They have a series of lights that you scroll through with a mode button then just push the other button to increase the function. You can set drag brake , timing and other things very easy.

I believe what you are saying, most of the electronics are made overseas by a handful of companies. But there seems to be a big difference in the software.

i have used both and whether or not they are the same is not a question but keep in mind the tekin is ALOT easier to set up and tune.

I would have to go with the Mamba esc, especially since the new firmware now supports Brushed motors also. :D

The new motors have a silver can.
The avatar was a picture on another forum, not sure how much is there but it could be all of them.

but to fully program the mamba you need the usb cable and software. you dont need none of that with the tekin.

I have had all three and I prefered the quark, I ran it wuth a c4 9200 kv with a 3 cell 2100 lipo and not one problem. It is a little more difficult to figure out how to set it up but once you figure it out it is just as easy as the rest. I would stay away from the mamba, I have had issues with them studdering on taking off from a dead stop and a hard crash always took a few seconds for it to reset or wathever it did.

i got a tekin 6.8 off of ebay yesterday. new in the package for $35

February 10th, 2008, 4:36 PM
6.8 is going to be too fast, I would like to see about an 4.8 kv motor.

i couldn't pass it up for $35 for a new motor. i know where there is a good deal on a mamba 5.4. do you think that would be enough??? or would i need alittle more???

Charlie ran one, you might want to find like an 20 tooth pinion.
